Hey there! My name is Erin and I’d love to have you follow along with my adventures in sewing! I use quilting to take a break from garments, and garment sewing as a break from quilts!
Happy Sunday! I won’t have a video out today. We have family in town celebrating Adam’s homecoming and birthday, as well as Halloween. Here’s a picture of our little Elsa on Friday, and I’ll share the details of how I finally tackled this project next weekend in my October Makes video. See you then!
There’s some sad news in the pattern world today. Forget-me-not patterns is going out of business, sort of. The shop will remain open BUT all patterns are on sale for 50% off through Nov 4th. I just made the Iris pleated tee and am super impressed by the drafting and instructions.
I was just bragging on the activewear fabric from Fabric+Flow in my latest video, and they’re having a sale for Thanksgiving today! No code needed, the discount applies at checkout, and there are no tariff surprises for US customers.
One year (plus a couple weeks) after the #standingtallqal reveal date, I finished mine! This was made using one JoAnn’s precut roll that was swiped from my Mom’s stash, and MANY random scraps, including canvas, batik, glittery space cotton, random pieces of white fabric, and an old flannel sheet for the backing.
I stalled on this after I started quilting it in the spring, because I didn’t love what I was doing. After a few months of letting it sit though, I decided that a finished quilt with subpar quilting was preferable to a quilt sandwich. It’s perfectly imperfect for picnics or afternoons at the park. Thank you @LostMyThread and @SoSarahSewed for putting this QAL together!
My toddler wanted to watch Toy Story 2 and I wanted to sew, so this is our compromise. It turns out climbing equipment can also be a makeshift sewing table. I’m working on a fun tee shirt for myself and Waves and Wild speedy pants for the little one.
Where is the weirdest place you’ve set your machine up?
I’m wearing the Kokomo swim suit bra from Greenstyle, which was just released last week. Overall I’m really happy with it but I’ll share more thoughts in a future video. The Kokomo bottoms are sitting on my sewing table, waiting for leg elastic, but they’ll get their day in the sun soon!
My daughter is in the PSCO Dawson that I spoke about in my May Makes video. She loves it, as do I!
It turns out I brought the perfect cross stitch project on this trip! I’m visiting family in DFW, TX and had some time to start the Winter House Trio from Waxing Moon Designs between trips out into the snow with my daughter. It’s always weird to see snow here but the kids love it and we’re all staying warm and safe ⛄️❄️
Happy Thanksgiving! We ran the Otter Trotter at our local aquarium last night and I wore my newest make. I finally got around to making the @jaliepatterns Loulouxe skort with this awesome K Deer deadstock. Turns out it’s black light friendly! My top is the Styla (@llksewing) La Jolla. All fabric is from Surge Fabrics. Did anyone else do a Turkey Trot for the holiday?
