My Lil Baguettes:
What a brutally painful week, month, year—I lose track of these many moments of hell. My freaky little corner of the Internet is all about encouraging people to create joyful, happy homes. But there is little joy in the world lately.
My heart breaks with every update, every story, every new injustice. Children used as bait. Citizens terrorized. Billions reallocated to fill for-profit prisons. My heart breaks for the people sitting in cells, for the family members unable to locate them, for the slurs thrown at them by masked men.
And I keep thinking: What do we do?!
I've talked about it before, but my now almost 96-year-old grandma survived Nazi Germany as a young girl. She even wrote a book about it (Eleanor's Story: www.goodreads.com/book/show/944715.Eleanor_s_Story…. I was fortunate to get to visit Berlin with her and my great uncle years back. We walked through their old neighborhood while they recounted the awful memories, pointed out the locations from her memoir, let it all flood back. It was painful and profound and surreal to hear their stories, now told as ghost stories in a neighborhood full of bustling cafes and shops and smiling people. So much pain and horror—75 years later, a distant memory.
I pray for the time when these horrors are also a distant memory.
In the meantime, I think of my grandmother's mother, who got up after every bombing and demanded they sweep. Sweep the glass from the windows. Sweep the shrapnel from the floor. Just sweep.
For me, sweeping is donating to organizations doing on-the-ground work in Minnesota:
Women's Foundation of Minnesota Immigrant Rapid Response Fund
www.wfmn.org/funds/immigrant-rapid-response/
Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota
www.ilcm.org/donate/
Sweeping is learning your rights: unidos-mn.org/know-your-rights
Sweeping is also a tearful tub of ice cream.
Wherever you are, I hope you are safe and sweeping—however you can.
❤️
Katy
P.S. I don't need to be lectured about what I say on my own channel. I can stop "being political" when I can go to the hardware store without seeing masked men brutalize people in the parking lot. I just want a world where people are housed, where people have health care, where people are safe.

My loves!
I hope you’re slowing down for the holidays and taking a beat. No episode this week in post-holiday haze, but will be back in the new year. Whether you had a happy holiday or a Moment of Hell, hope you recover too❤️
P.S. This is the happiest Baguette has looked all month.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
Taking this week off for holiday break and, inconveniently, stuck sick on the couch when I have so many projects to do! Although that part sucks, I can’t tell you how grateful I am for getting to spend time with you each week.
Thank you for your comments, your emails, your DMs, your nudes, and your ongoing support and patience for weeks I have to miss an ep. Y’all are the best little corner of the Internet, and I am so grateful to have you through these wild times.
Wish I had more to say, but now it’s time to take more cough medicine and gaze into the eyes of my very grumpy nurse.
Love to all of you,
Katy & Baguette

PSA, my lil Baguettes!
I’ve heard a lot of you are not getting notifications even though you’re subscribed. (Thank you for subbing!) The way to fix that is to go hover over my subscribe button and click ALL instead of PERSONALIZED.
YouTube is trying to keep us apart, but our love of DIY is the most powerful force on earth. 😘

🔥MOMENT OF HELL 🔥
Welp, party people, beware of pressing mysterious paint bubbles or you could end up like this ☠️ Might be a bit til my bathroom makeover makes it to the channel, but just a reminder that real-life makeovers can be very miserable!!!

Hi BBs!
New makeover dropping next weekend! I was delayed with some product shipping (why, god, why?) and wanted to drop the last of my apartment un-making for posterity. I am SO excited for you to see next week’s makeover. It might be my fave to date.

Hey BBs,
No ep this week. Not only are we mid-move but in the last week LA has experienced the biggest Moment of Hell as it’s become the flashpoint of reprehensible immigration policy enforcement and ridiculous media misrepresentation.
I hate the intentional terrorization of the most vulnerable people.
I love the first amendment and the brave acts of community I’ve seen in protests over the last week.
Fun fact: My mom has volunteered at a youth migrant detention center for YEARS, creating activities, learning languages, and offering companionship and distraction to underage kids who have fled unspeakable things (that our country often had a hand in, openly or clandestinely). Her volunteer program unexpectedly and unceremoniously ended this year with vague bureaucratic excuses. No volunteers in. No outside eyes to observe conditions. And no compassionate support for kids who must be terrified. It completely sickens me.
My entire channel is about creating a fun, joyful home. To have a home—a safe home—is the biggest gift in the entire world, and I have one largely because of the dumb luck to be of the 0.5% people born in the U.S.
So, if you ever enjoyed my content (and can comfortably spare a few bucks), please consider gifting that to the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, who are the boots on the ground for organizing, educating, and defending immigrants and refugees in the streets and in the courts. Their work is more important than ever, and I’m so grateful for everyone who is on the frontline of this fight.

BACK NEXT WEEK!
Bear with me on a spottier schedule, but I will be coming back with an AMA that *might* reveal some scandalous and thrilling things…
