I’m Renee Tougas—a midlife, empty-nest homemaker, writer, and adventurer living in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.
I grew up in central Alberta. I've spent my adulthood living in New Jersey, Maine, the Gaspé Peninsula of Quebec, and Montreal. I’m now rooted in the Maritimes, living across the driveway from my parents (you’ll see them in my videos).
I’ve been blogging for 20 years, and since moving here in summer 2024, I’ve started doing more video. I’ve always enjoyed documenting life—journaling, blogging, photography—and now I’m doing it in this format.
I homeschooled our 3 kids for 16 years. With that chapter behind me and no more kids living at home I have more creative freedom for video making.
For an in-depth intro and what my channel is about see this video: youtu.be/pph3BF0l2dI
My videos are about everyday life in midlife. From time to time I also publish essays here in video format.

Three years ago, we placed a deposit on a custom-built Armadillo fiberglass trailer. We imagined all the adventures we’d have and the places we’d go.
What followed was years of waiting, delays, and hard realizations. What would happen to our dream?
In this video, I share our full trailer story, alongside glimpses of our cross-Canada road trip.
