I’ve been working on some new travel sewing projects… curious which one you’d reach for first 👀

🧵 If you were sewing something for your next trip, which would you need MOST?

💡Loving these practical, hands-free sewing projects lately?

If you enjoyed the zipper sweater keychain and the cord wrap, this is another one you’ll probably love…

👉 The Water Bottle Holder tutorial

This is honestly one of the projects I use the most in real life.
It lets you carry your water bottle completely hands-free, whether you’re running errands, walking to the park, heading out for a day trip, or exploring on vacation.

It’s one of my favorite examples of a sewing project that works for both:
☀️ everyday life
✈️ and travel/adventures

You can make it in an afternoon, it’s very doable for confident beginners (beginner → early intermediate), and it’s absolutely worth the little extra effort.

There’s also a matching pattern for it that includes 3 different sizes for different water bottles.

If you’re into sewing things you’ll actually use, this is a great one to add to your list. 🧵

🧵 Missed this yesterday? Or just looking for a quick, useful sewing win this weekend?

This little Cord Wrap is one of those tiny projects that quietly makes everyday life easier.

It keeps your charging cords, earbuds, and small cables neatly bundled in your bag without them sliding out or slowly unraveling like most simple wraps do.
The double-snap design is intentional and helps keep the cord more secure and contained (especially for shorter or slippery cords).

It’s:
✔️ beginner-friendly
✔️ a true scrap-buster
✔️ super fast (you can finish it in about 30 minutes)
✔️ actually practical for real life (travel, work bags, tech pouches, and everyday carry)

If you watched yesterday’s tutorial, don’t forget to grab the free pattern to keep on hand.
And if you missed the video, this is an easy, low-commitment project you can sew in one short sitting!

📢 New quick & practical sewing tutorial dropping tomorrow…

If you like to travel, are just tired of losing your charging cord, or just want to prevent it from getting tangled in your bag (or stuffed into random pockets), this one’s for you.

I’ll be sharing a fast, beginner-friendly sewing project that makes a small but surprisingly useful everyday accessory, and it’s one of those “why is this not already in my bag?” kind of makes.

This version uses a slightly different snap setup than most simple cord wraps… and there’s a very intentional reason for that design choice. 👀
(I’ll explain exactly why in the video. 😉)

🧵 New tutorial goes live tomorrow, Friday evening (around 6–7pm)

📅 Save this post and come back! It’s a fun, quick project and a perfect scrap-buster, too. 🧵

Which kind of small, practical sewing project do you use the most?

It’s still very much “stuck-inside sewing season” for a lot of us right now, and while the fun projects are always tempting, this is actually a great time to quietly level up a few skills that make everything easier later. 🧵

One of those is making your own bias tape.

If you’ve ever struggled with hiding seams in certain places, wanted that extra pop of color, or needed to bind a seam following a pattern's instructions, this video shows you two practical ways to make bias tape yourself. It includes a totally free method and a much faster everyday option.

This fits right in with the zipper + curves + foundational skills I’ve been sharing lately. Small skills, big payoff for future projects.

🧵 Missed this yesterday? Or just looking for a quick, useful sewing win this weekend?

This little Zipper Sweater Keychain is one of those projects that just makes sense to own.

It clips to your bag and holds a sweater, light jacket, or hoodie hands-free...no tying, no stretching it out, and no draping it over your arm and hoping you don’t forget it somewhere.
The zipper lets you adjust for different thicknesses, and the snaps fold it up into a more compact, secure hold (and honestly… it looks better too).

It’s:
✔️ beginner-friendly
✔️ fast to sew
✔️ actually practical for everyday life (errands, travel, walks, coffee runs, etc.)

If you watched yesterday’s tutorial, don’t forget to grab the free pattern.
And if you missed the video, this is still a great, cozy indoor winter project you can finish in one sitting.

🧵When you sit down to sew, what kind of project are you most in the mood for?

Sometimes the best projects aren’t gifts… they’re the ones you make just for yourself.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, this felt like a good moment to share something a little fun, a little pretty, and still totally practical: a small purse you can make for you. Whether that means taking it out to dinner, carrying it on a coffee run, or just enjoying the fact that you made something special with your own hands.

This Drawstring Purse is a lightweight, everyday bag that’s simple, cute, and actually useful...and the pattern is completely free.

It’s a great “treat yourself” project because it’s:

✨ finishable in an afternoon or a day

🧵 beginner-to-intermediate friendly (not first-ever sewing, but very doable)

🎒 practical enough to really use

💖 and honestly just really fun to make

The free pattern includes the measured pattern pieces and step-by-step, 3D-style digital instructions so you’re not left guessing what goes where.

If you’d like to make one, you can grab it on my website at www.bytinymite.com/pattern-library 📚
Scroll toward the bottom of the page to find the Drawstring Purse pattern (it’s 100% free).

Whether or not Valentine’s Day means anything to you, this is your little reminder that it’s okay to make things just because you want them. 💕
