The Sophiatown Arts Akademy is an independent space for learning and playing. Its name is indebted to Sophiatown, a place and community in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are located in Brixton, Johannesburg, and work all over the place.

Our curriculum works along our diverse senses - seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and feeling. And our sixth one - for knowing intuitively, for sounding out, healing, and for listening deep.

​You can take part in a curriculum of six experiences per year; or just join the ones you like or need right now. We work on a community-based payment model.

Our provocateurs are artists, activists and healers from all over the world.
