In a shocking move, MBC has officially abolished its freelance weathercaster system after 31 years, meaning all weathercasters — including Kim Ga Young — are leaving as their contracts end.

The decision comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the late Oh Yoanna, whose suicide note reportedly detailed workplace harassment that stunned the public.

While MBC previously stated there wasn’t enough evidence against most accused individuals, the case continues to draw attention as her family pursues a major damages lawsuit.
The network will now replace the role with “weather and climate experts.”
