Imagine my happiness when I can just keep my door open while they are working. The dust issues are gone. From here own, I can only afford the necessary repairs and at this point, the majority has been taken care of.
There is plenty more to be done. Maybe another 10K but I will focus on making that to finish the job!
For now I will show you the place as is.

And for now this is enough for me and all I can afford 😬
So grateful for all the people that helped me out, including vendors, inspectors, and even my slow AF construction workers.
My kitchen is nice even though there are many things, cosmetic things that need to be done.

The flooring installation was so messy, if I didn’t know these people I wouldn’t think they knew what they were doing.
First the concrete was not poured smoothly and the flooring was not even, so they had to remove the floor, get a sander thingy that produced highly dangerous concrete dust (which the whole house was covered with afterwards) and clean up (poorly) to install the floor again… smh
I swear, after seeing all this and the fiasco with the crooked contractor, I can be a better manager.

Now that I am living in this mess, I want my daughter’s room ready immediately!
We have been separated since we were homeless. I went to Cincinnati to stay with family and she went to live with an amazing family close to school in Indiana.
So I tell the contractor to focus all attention on her room and this is what I see them doing when I get back from a busy day… The main living area
God have mercy…

Finally!! The bathroom was “ready” for me. I moved-in just days after this picture was taken.
What a journey… I was homeless October 10, 22 or so and was able to move-in into my unfinished home March 19, 23 or so.
The finish work phase was just starting but I was happy to be able to be home.

Things are finally getting done even though the time to get them done are still super slow.
Another five days passed and we finally are connecting the water, the bathroom has flooring and the bedroom is being painted.
Despite the careless nature of the current contractor and I was super excited to see this progress.

Six days later the progress in my bedroom is still very minimum. This is exactly what I mean when I say that contractors are just messy project managers; always saying yes to everyone for fearing of not making money or disappointing the homeowner. But in reality, they do themselves a disfavor because that same homeowner will never hire them again for a new project based on their lack of organization.
They will keep them around until they finish the current one but a new project is not guaranteed after you neglect a job even though you know your customer has no place to live.
I was scammed by a contractor. Hired this one to take over, who said he was going to make up to me by showing integrity and commitment but it takes him 6 days to do flooring, drywall, trimming and paint a 12x12 room with a crew of 4 people 🤔
