Since 2017, Beatmaking has been more than just a hobby, its been a BUSINESS. i OWN my Label, my Publishing Company, My Production Company and even MY promo company. ive been TOTALLY self contained. ive written books, traveled, spoke at colleges and taught masterclsses, scored movies and worked with some of the BEST in the biz. ALL from corner of a living room in Lakewood, Washington. its almost that time to put it down. im 52 years old, and its time to start having FUN with this shit again. its time to NOT take shit so seriously. the day to day business grind is coming to an end. possibly next year or so. ive done thing ive never dreamed id do, and reached heights the haters couldnt think of. ive built one HELL of a resume, and have NOTHING to prove to anyone. ive built a system that will basically take care of me once i walk away. DONT GET IT TWISTED. ill STILL be making beats and posting them and releasing music and eps, and beat tapes. its just not gonna be so damn serious...

I always find it funny that all these "Producer Influencers" have the magic button and golden key on how to make money with your music. NONE of them talk about REAL OWNERSHIP. having your LLC and EIN. Actually signing the contract to sign to your own label, the lowdown on whether its better to pay taxes yearly or quarterly. why its important to own your production AND publishing companies. i would do it, but this is why i teach in person masterclases on "Music Business 101"

IMA BE HONEST... i havent found a lot of "Inspiration" when it comes to these "big" influencers in the Youtube beatmaking community. its the guys who are more or less considered my "peers" that i draw inspiration from every day. guys like ‪@kirkstate‬ ‪@lindasson‬ ‪@oldsoulmusicbeats‬ ‪@soulchemist‬ ‪@Staft‬ ‪@ConductorWilliams‬ ‪@dubsbanger‬ and a few others. and to be honest its a crime that im even mentioned in the same breath with these INCREDIBLY DOPE producers. these guys are heads and shoulders above what i do. but i digress....

THESE are the people I look to when i get stuck for ideas or when i need a creative boost in energy. and i wanted to give them their flowers while they can smell them.

hey ya'll im sorry i havent uploaded more this week, but ive been LAID OUT with this damn viral infection. its been strictly bedrest and fluids. im starting to come around, i still have a lot of chest congestion. once i clear my lungs out, ill be good. hopefully after this weekend.

HEY ALL. first off i want to thank all of you for the love, kind words and support on my last post. its nice to know that im not alone in this, an i wanted to let others know who are suffering that THEY are not alone either.

the GREAT thing is that i have my music to help quell my demons, like a lot of my producer peers.

Mental health is a subject that is not openly talked about, and a lot of us have to suffer in silence. i may actually do a vid talking about this... we'll see..

so what a lot of people dont know is that i suffer from Major depressive disorder, night terrors and PTST, and i dont take any drugs for it i tackle everything in a drug free manor which needless to say is rough when i have an episode. so ive been in a real funk lately, and have been feeling REALLY down, but still find it in me to make a beat everyday, and shout out to ‪@kirkstate‬ hes been checking out my vids and leaving some dope words of encouragement. music for a lot of us is a way to calm our demons, and sometimes when its not enough you need that lil extra boost, and ‪@kirkstate‬ has been that boost for me. THANK YOU BIG BRO!!!!
