One of the first things we learn in meditation is that we are not the mind. We even refer to the mind is as a possession (“I’ve changed my mind.” “What’s on your mind?”).

The mind can be a very useful tool if it is under our control and we are directing it where we want it to go. But it can overwhelm us if we forget our natural position as master of the mind. We can be easily swept away by the content of the mind or by influences that capture the mind.

The practice of yoga meditation allows us to bring the mind back under our control. The mind then naturally becomes more calm, less agitated, and in turn we begin to gain more control of our lives.

Deep and lasting peace, contentment, purpose, and fulfillment are all part of our birthright. We can reclaim our birthright by reclaiming the mind.

Part of yoga practice involves caring for the body – through postures, exercises, relaxation, breathing, diet, and lifestyle habits. These are all important because we are responsible for the care of our physical body. But this is not the goal or essence of Yoga.

Yoga can be described as self-discovery or uncovering what is already there. We are already whole and complete; we just need to uncover our true essence and being. The process of Yoga Meditation facilitates the “internal cleansing” to lead us to self-realization and the relationship of unconditional love that we already have within us. ✨💜🙏🏼
