Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday that the decision to ban skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych from the Winter Olympics for refusing to ditch a helmet depicting victims of the war with Russia plays “into the hands of aggressors.”

Gestures of a political nature during competition are forbidden under the Olympic charter.

The athlete had insisted he would continue to wear the headgear, which carries pictures of Ukrainian sportsmen and women killed since Ukraine war started in 2022, in his event at the Milan-Cortina Winter Games.

What if a weapon could burn so fiercely that the human body doesn’t just die, but also disappears?

This may help explain why thousands in Palestine’s Gaza remain missing.

Since Israel launched its genocidal war on the besieged enclave in October 2023, at least 2,842 Palestinians have effectively “disappeared,” according to an Al Jazeera investigation, citing forensic field documentation and data compiled by Gaza’s Civil Defense teams.

Al Jazeera’s ‘The Rest of the Story’ probe links the phenomenon to the Israeli army’s use of internationally prohibited thermobaric and incendiary weapons, often referred to as vacuum or aerosol bombs. The munitions can ignite fuel clouds into fireballs reaching over 3,000°C.

A US immigration judge has ruled that the US government failed to justify the deportation of Turkish PhD student Rumeysa Ozturk, finding that her pro-Palestinian stance did not constitute legal grounds for removal.

Ozturk was among several international scholars targeted in a high-profile crackdown on campus movements and was arrested in March 2025 by masked federal agents.

Although the US State Department revoked her visa citing her involvement in student journalism, the court found that the government’s interpretation of immigration law lacked merit.

The decision effectively halts the deportation proceedings, though the US administration retains the right to appeal the ruling to a higher board.

Worshippers at the Jamie Usmania Mosque are getting their faith and fitness fix in the city of Bradford in the UK.

After noon prayers, mostly elderly men aged 50–80 gather on the lower floor for a weekly Pilates class that blends physical activity with a chance to connect with their community.

The 45-minute sessions, attended by around 30 participants, feature squats, stretching and balance exercises, followed by socialising over tea, fruit and biscuits.

After a video went viral on the mosque’s social media, officials say they’ve received requests to replicate the programme in mosques across the UK, as well as in Malaysia and Canada.

Organisers also hope to expand with Pilates classes for women and introduce social clubs for young people.
