These Eaton Endurant HD transmissions are nothing but trouble. Feels like they were built on a Monday shift. On top of that, the fleet I handle just brought in several low-mileage Internationals, and every single one has been plagued with transmission issues.
A timing belt, split wet belt, and wet belt are all related to an engine’s timing system but have key differences:
Timing Belt – A dry rubber belt that synchronizes the crankshaft and camshaft, ensuring proper engine timing. It operates outside the engine’s oil system.
Wet Belt – A rubber belt that runs inside the engine, lubricated by engine oil. It reduces friction and noise but wears over time due to oil exposure.
Split Wet Belt – A design where the wet belt is split into two parts, often used to improve durability and serviceability.
Wet belts are common in modern engines to improve efficiency, but they require regular maintenance, as they can degrade due to oil contamination.
