We're taking a look towards May's local elections. How did we get here? Did we nearly not have them at all? Will there be an electoral earthquake? Live 6:27pm GMT
We take a look at elections to come.
The Gorton & Denton by election - will Labour receive an electoral bloody nose - and if so, who lands the political punch? What will the result indicate for the local elections to follow?
With one Councillor up for re-election in each of the city’s 14 wards in May we take look at who is reaching the end of their term, likelihood they’ll stand again and whether previous results and current public feeling give any indication of what parties will hold which seats, and which will change hands. Nominations close April 9th with announcement to follow confirming the candidates appear on the ballot in each ward.

As we prepare for our 2026 return - what local, national or international issues would you want to see us cover as we head into spring?
It's probably too late to wish you all a happy new year, but with resolutions long since forgotten, what does 2026 have in store politically for Portsmouth & the surrounding areas?
-Local elections are going head, Mayoral elections delayed two years as the government marches on with its devolution and local government reorganisation. Who will win in May? What difference will that make to the local councils in Portsmouth, Havant, Fareham, Gosport & Southampton?
-What will the changes to the planning law mean for our communities?
-What does Portsmouth have in store for its centenary year?
-Will the Southern Water repairs finally end the merry-go round of roadworks on Eastern Road?
-Will the government finally come to a 'NO' decision on the Aquind interconnector?
-Will school children be banned from accessing social media? Should the be?
-Given that all parties are happy when a Councillor or MP defects to them, but not --when it goes the other way - should those elected 'crossing the floor' be required to face the electorate again to retain their mandate under their new party?
Let us know what you think - and what you'd like to see on the show before everyone turns all their focus on the local elections.
