Posting again as I think I over explained on the last post.

I am looking for anyone who was at the Cape and saw a Saturn V launch.

If that's you please let me know in the comments.

The project I am working on is a celebration of each of those launches and I would love to add some channel supporter comments into that video alongside the quotes from astronauts etc about what that experience was like.

Not going to need a huge amount, but please, if you were there let me know.

Thanks LM5

Hi Everyone

Am looking for verifiable quotes with reference to the launch experience for the Saturn V. I have the quotes from the Apollo Mission Technical Debriefs - the astronauts technical descriptions etc and a number of quotes from astronaut books - am looking for other quotes that you may know of from astronauts or anyone from NASA or anyone who was watching (if that was you I would love to hear your experience of that event - and if you allow me I will add it to the content with a credit on the video I am working on) - If you do know of any please share them here and please do let me know where the quote is from etc as these need to be accurate.

Only have a week to get these so please respond asap

Thanks for any help - regards Simon

SPACE Quiz Number 13. Who, in 1978, were the two astronauts originally scheduled to fly the third Space Shuttle Mission, a flight that was slated as the Skylab Re-Boost flight? The flights mission was cancelled due to delays in the Shuttle program that meant Skylab could not be saved before it re-entered the Earth's atmosphere in 1979. One of the astronauts who was assigned to the mission resigned from NASA which meant this assigned crew would never fly a mission together.

Apollo 15 Launch - NBC's Jay Barbree & Russ Ward Commentary
Audio recorded July 26th 1971 contains the countdown and launch to orbit of Apollo 15 as commented on by NBC radio hosts Jay Barbree and Russ Ward.
I have edited in the PAO commentary during station breaks (no station breaks were on the recording except the one near to orbital insertion, which contains a very dated, "of the time" advert for Fresca! and left in as it is part of the historical recording).

NASA TV feed used for the visuals.

Artemis II is nearing launch. Despite the ongoing debate about the program, the politics, the system etc, I am concentrating on the four astronauts who are attempting to become the first humans in 50 years to venture this far out into space, in-fact further into space than anyone has travelled before. As with all space travellers, especially those leaving the relative safety of earth orbit, there is risk, as there always was during every Apollo mission. These guys have families and loved ones and I just wanted to take a moment to reflect, as we "armchair astronauts" are about to get our wish to see humans going to the moon again, that there are real people aboard that spacecraft, who, yes, understand and have accepted the risk associated with what they are going to do, but, nonetheless have stepped forward to take that risk. In chronicling human spaceflight I am always full of the deepest respect for every human being who has stepped into this arena. I wish the Artemis II crew a successful mission and a safe return.

During research into the Apollo 10 De-Brief tapes (Tapes 1-7 available to listen to now) I came across something I had not heard before, the crew going through the mission photographs, discussing what they were seeing and which ones they wanted to use in press conferences etc - It makes for a fascinating listen. Tape 8 is the color photograph de-brief and I am attempting to produce a video that will show what they were describing as they go through the 3 x color photo magazine pictures.

I have synched one magazine so far and am now starting the second. Am sure this will be of interest to Apollo followers.

Some weeks before the Challenger disaster, this was delivered to me in a NASA envelope. I had written to Dick asking for an autographed picture and am so grateful he took time out to send this to a 19 year old UK Space Geek. 40 years on and it is still one of my prized space themed possessions.
