Shooting hoops 🏀, hitting the asphalt, mesmerizing on Australia's sporting culture. What a way to cap off the ISELP Down Under! 🤩

IISM students & faculty members visited the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre - MSAC 🥇🏄🏻‍♂️ where they got to explore the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit — the home of the F1 Australian Grand Prix 🇦🇺. A dedicated sports connoisseur gave them a tour of the circuit and how the Australian GP corporation manages the event annually. 🏎️

Our aspiring sports professionals also hit the basketball court to shoot some hoops 🥳, where they also interacted with a professional basketball player, who shared his on-court experiences. 🫡

And it was a fabulous opportunity for our students to play on a state-of-the-art basketball court 🏀 and they were thrilled to end this ISELP in Australia on such an exhilarating note! 📍🏁

Striking it on the turf in Melbourne! IISM students and faculty had a spectacular time, exploring Hockey Australia 🥳🏑 during the ongoing ISELP Down Under.

Visiting the State Sport Centre, these dynamic youngsters not only got a masterclass by the Hockey Australia officials, but they also picked up the sticks themselves to hit the indoor turf. 🥅️ It was an incredible on-pitch experience as our students & faculty members capitalised on this fun opportunity. ⭐🎯

Later, they also visited the Yakult Factory in South Victoria 📍, learning about the manufacturing of the nutritious probiotic dairy products from the Japanese brand.

Meeting IISM alumni studying & working in Australia 🇦🇺, developing a novel understanding of the sporting venues and facilities there 🏟️, and having the best time — this ISELP has turned out to be a highly-enriching experience for our future sports professionals!

Fall seven times and get up eight!!! 🏃‍♂️💨

My skating journey has been nothing short of a lesson in persistence.

I, Abhishek, started skating at the age of 7, purely as a hobby. Back then, I never imagined that this sport would shape my life, my career, and my purpose in the sports industry.

At the age of 13, I began competing as a professional skater. The beginning wasn’t easy. Wins didn’t come early, and defeats became my first teachers. Those losses made me realise that if I truly wanted to reach a milestone, I had to think beyond participation. That mindset shift became a turning point in my journey.

With a focus on performing better in every competition than the last, I trained harder and pushed my limits further than I ever thought possible. Gradually, the effort began to show. I went on to win multiple competitions, including at the state and national levels. 🥇🏆

However, in 2019, a downfall arrived due to Covid that changed everything for athletes across the world. Some walked away, some struggled, some found new paths. I, too, couldn't continue as a competitive skater anymore. Yet I wanted to stay connected to the sport that gave me everything.

That’s when I found a new purpose. 💡 I opened my own skating academy 🏫 and also began coaching young skaters in schools who aspired to become professional skaters. Through this phase, I realized that sports is not just about performance; it’s also about managing people, building systems, and sustaining growth.

To strengthen my understanding of the business of sports, I joined IISM and pursued a Master of Sports Management. 🎓 It helped me gain clarity in areas like communication, leadership, operations, venue and team management, and marketing.

But beyond all achievements, what matters most to me is my students - their ups and downs, their tears and smiles, their failures and comebacks. 🤝 Watching them fall, stand up again, wipe their tears, and skate forward reminds me of why I started. 🥹

Because in sports and in life, the real victory is never giving up and choosing to rise, every single time. 🙌

At the evening dinner, they had the privilege to interact with some of the city's top business leaders, who shared valuable insights about working in the global sports industry. 🌏🎾

The Dubai Experiential Tour continued at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium🏟️, where students explored legendary corners, world-class infrastructure, rich history, and unforgettable cricketing moments.

The highlight was an exclusive session 📚with Mr. Mazhar Khan, General Manager, Sharjah Cricket, whose insights, guidance, and real-world experiences made it a truly once-in-a-lifetime🏅 learning opportunity.

For IISM sports fanatics, the stadium visit was an inspiration, and dreams came together in one unforgettable day.✅

Following it, the visits to the Burj Khalifa🗼 and Dubai Mall added a perfect city touch 🌆and cultural immersion.
