Bay leaf isn’t just a spice.

We’re used to treating it like a background ingredient.
Throw it into soup. Boil it for an hour. Toss it out.
Then say it “doesn’t do anything.”

Which is a strange conclusion, if you think about it.
That’s like burning coffee beans and blaming the coffee.

Behind that familiar aroma is something very ordinary — and very reliable: physiology.
Bay leaves contain dozens of active compounds.
Eugenol. Linalool. Cineole. Natural flavonoids.

They don’t perform miracles.
They just do quiet work.
