We want to end this week with more good news! 🎉 Not only will tigress Flora soon leave the former Zoo Luján behind and begin a new chapter at FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary, but the bears Gordo and Florencia will also head towards a species-appropriate future at BEAR SANCTUARY Belitsa. 🌿

Preparing wild animals for rescue involves far more than just travel plans. It requires lots of paperwork and permits, coordinating cargo flights and transport vehicles, working closely with veterinarians and specialists, as well as dedicated crate training to ensure a safe and stress-free journey. 📄✈️

Gordo presents a particular challenge. ⚖️ Weighing 350 kg at his veterinary check last November, he is one of the heaviest bears FOUR PAWS has ever rescued and transported. This brings logistical hurdles, but our team is always ready to rise to the occasion. The flight to Bulgaria is booked, and the bear ambulance from our BEAR SANCTUARY Belitsa is ready to set off to collect Gordo and Florencia. 🚛🏥🇧🇬

Meanwhile, our experts on site in Argentina have been working intensively on crate training with Gordo and Florencia as well as tigress Flora. 🐅 Thanks to this preparation, they will hopefully not require anaesthesia on their big day.

🐕 Dogs Transported for the Meat Trade Spotted Across Vietnam 🐾
The person who sent us these photos was travelling alone by motorcycle from central to southern Vietnam. During his journey, he witnessed distressing scenes that he couldn’t forget.

📅 “On December 19, along the DT702 route from Nha Trang to Mui Ne, I saw a motorbike carrying 2–3 dogs crammed into a cage,” he wrote to us. “The next day, December 20, while leaving Mui Ne and heading toward Ho Chi Minh City, I saw even more motorbikes – several of them – transporting numerous dogs in similar cages.” 🐕

👀 Curious and concerned, he decided to follow one of the riders. “They eventually stopped near the junction of QL1A and DT55, where I witnessed multiple motorbikes with cages full of dogs,” he said. 🛵

🚫 This is not just an animal welfare crisis, it’s an ethical issue. Do these animals deserve to suffer, live in fear, and ultimately die so tragically?

🆘 Bear Tim needs your voice now — He has suffered long enough. 🐻💔

Since he was just a tiny cub, Tim has been living in poor conditions at Zoo park Rožman in Slovenia. For more than 20 years, Tim is caged in a small concrete enclosure. Even though his living conditions were slightly improved by Mr. Rožmanec just recently and due to pressure from the authorities, Tim still does not live the life he could live with us! 🐻

But we stand ready to change that.

At our peaceful BEAR SANCTUARY Arbesbach in Austria, a safe and species‑appropriate home is waiting for him. A place where he could finally explore and enjoy life — just like bears Felix and Mici, who were rescued in 2025 in Slovenia and are now thriving. 🍀

But there’s one heartbreaking problem. 💔

Tim’s owner, Mr. Rožmanec, refuses to let him go, claiming that Tim is “doing well”. Since 2024 Zoo park Rožman is closed for visitors as Mr Rožmanec has no valid license to open for visitors. Meanwhile, Tim remains trapped in the same small enclosure, day after day.

Tim was born in 2003.
He has never known a life beyond the bars of Zoo park Rožman.
Isn’t it time he finally did?

Despite overwhelming evidence that a full ban is the only ethical and coherent choice, the Commission is still considering weaker options that would allow cage-based fur farming to continue. This is unacceptable. ⚠️

Over 1.5 million Europeans have spoken loud and clear, demanding an EU-wide ban on fur farms and fur products. 📢

There is no ethical, environmental, or economic justification for this cruel industry to exist. 💔
Innocent animals like foxes, raccoon dogs, and minks are confined to tiny cages, denied natural behaviours, and brutally killed for fashion. 🦊🐾

They deserve better. ✨

🐯 #FloraToFELIDA: We have some exciting news!
Ten-year-old tigress Flora from the former Zoo Luján will soon find her forever home at our FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary in the Netherlands. 🧡

Last year in November, our on-site team classified Flora as an urgent case during veterinary assessments. ⚠️ She was among the first animals, out of more than 60 big cats, that got examined and treated during our #EmergencyMissionArgentina.

Flora was suffering from severely ingrown claws that had grown deep into her paws, making it impossible for her to walk. 💔 She was not only in immense pain but also condemned to live her life in a tiny, bleak enclosure measuring just 2 × 2 metres.

🩺 During the veterinary examination, the true severity of Flora’s condition became clear. Her claws had grown deeply into her paw pads, in some cases piercing them multiple times. Surgery was required to remove the claws and treat the wounds — a situation so extreme that even our experienced veterinarians had never encountered anything like it before. ️🚨

🦷 💉 Flora also urgently required dental surgery, including the removal of one canine, followed by a second procedure one week later to remove the remaining canines. As the smallest tiger at the former zoo, her fragile condition further underlined the urgency of relocating her to FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary for specialised, lifelong care. 🌿️

Help us bring Flora into a future where she will receive expert veterinary treatment, a rehabilitation programme, species-appropriate nutrition, dedicated support, and the stability she so desperately deserves for the rest of her life. 🌟 A team of specialists is already waiting for her...

They are cutting little babies alive.
Why? For your wool clothing.
Most sheep wool comes from Australia, where live lamb cutting (aka mulesing) - a practice involving cutting off skin from innocent little lambs’ buttocks without adequate pain relief- is still common and totally legal.
This causes extreme pain, stress, and risk of infection for these animals.
This must end NOW🚫
While Michael Kors is using wool in their collections, they won’t speak up publicly against live lamb cutting.

Meet Oliver – aka Ollie 🦁

Born on 11 October 2011, his life story is one of survival, resilience, and second chances. As a cub, Oliver was exposed to human interaction at a facility that allowed public contact. Later returned to his owners, he was placed in a crowded enclosure where he had to fend for himself to access enough food. He was severely impacted by the harsh conditions and lack of care. 💔

Thanks to the determination of Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary’s founders, Oliver was eventually brought to safety. After the recent fires, he has once again had to leave the place he called home and is now recovering at LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary under specialised care.
