Rishiganga Yogshala
Tri-Dosha Mandala(Seasons and time of day).
The bodily humors are constanly motion. There is a definite relationship between the movement of the tridosha and the movement or passage of time. The increase or decrease of the these three humors in the body is related to the cycles of time.
Morning, from sunrise till 10 AM , is a time of kapha, because of the predominance of kapha humor at this time. One feels energetic and fresh and also a little heavy. At mid-morning , kapha slowly merges into pitta. From ten in the morning till two in the afternoon is the time when pitta is secreted and hunger increases. One feels hungry, light and hot. The afternoon from 2PM until the sun sets is the time of vata when one feels active, light and supple.Early in the evening from about 6PM untll ten is again kapha time, a period of cool air, intertia and little energy. Then from 10PM at night till 2AM in the morning are the peak nours of pitta when food is digested . Early in the morning before sunrise is again vata time. Because vata creates momvement, people awaken and excrete wastes.

In Ayurveda, the human constitution is described through the concept of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These are the fundamental energies or principles that govern all physical, mental, and emotional processes in the body. Every individual has all three, but in unique proportions, which form their prakriti (constitution).
Here’s a breakdown:
1. Vata Dosha – Air + Ether (Space)
• Qualities: Dry, light, cold, rough, subtle, mobile.
• Functions: Governs movement, breathing, circulation, nerve impulses, elimination, and creativity.
• Physical traits (when dominant): Lean/thin body, dry skin, variable appetite, irregular digestion, quick energy but tires easily.
• Mental traits: Creative, enthusiastic, quick to grasp ideas, but can be anxious, restless, or forgetful when imbalanced.
• Imbalances: Anxiety, insomnia, constipation, joint pain, dryness, irregular cycles.
2. Pitta Dosha – Fire + Water
• Qualities: Hot, sharp, light, oily, intense, penetrating.
• Functions: Governs digestion, metabolism, body temperature, vision, intelligence, and courage.
• Physical traits: Medium build, warm body, strong appetite, good digestion, reddish skin or hair, tendency to sweat easily.
• Mental traits: Intelligent, focused, ambitious, good leadership, but may become critical, irritable, or aggressive when imbalanced.
• Imbalances: Inflammation, acidity, ulcers, skin rashes, anger, burning sensations.
3. Kapha Dosha – Water + Earth
• Qualities: Heavy, slow, cool, oily, smooth, stable, dense.
• Functions: Governs structure, strength, stability, lubrication of joints, immunity, memory, and emotional calmness.
• Physical traits: Larger or well-built frame, strong stamina, smooth/oily skin, slow digestion, tendency to gain weight.
• Mental traits: Calm, compassionate, loyal, patient, but may become lethargic, possessive, or resistant to change when imbalanced.
• Imbalances: Obesity, lethargy, congestion, allergies, depression, water retention.

These three elements- Vata, Pita & Kapha - govern all the bio-logical, psychological and physiopthological funtions of the body, mind and consciousness. They act as basic constituents and protective barriers for the body in its normal physiological condition; When out of balance, they contribute to disease processes.

Purusha is unmanifested, formless, passive, beyond attributes, beyond cause and effect, space and time. Purusha is pure existence. Prakrti is the creative force of action, the source of form, manifestation, attributes and nature . Mahad is the cosmic intelligence or Buddhi. Ahamhar is ego, the sense of “I am”. Satva is stability, pure aspect, awakening essence and light. Rajas is dynamic movement. Tamas is static. It is potential energy, inertia, darkness, ignorance and matter.

Ayurveda is based on the idea that humans are a microcosm of the universe.
The universe and the human body are made of the same five great elements (Pancha Mahabhuta):
Prithvi (Earth) – stability, structure
Jala (Water) – fluidity, cohesion
Agni (Fire) – transformation, metabolism
Vayu (Air) – movement, circulation
Akasha (Ether/Space) – expansion, connection
Balance of these elements in the body = health. Imbalance = disease.

The word Ayurveda is from Sanskrit:
Ayur = Life (body, senses, mind, and soul together)
Veda = Knowledge or Science
Together it means “The Science of Life” or “The Art of Living Wisely.”
Ayurveda is not just about treating disease—it gives guidance on how to live a long, healthy, and meaningful life.
It covers daily routine (Dinacharya), seasonal routine (Ritucharya), diet, lifestyle, herbs, yoga, meditation, and healing therapies.
