We are Maggie and Ryan, two Aussies who moved to the UK in 2014. We began our cruising and cooking adventures in 2018 in our quest to travel and experience more of the country that we'd moved half-way across the world to see. Not long after we started our boating adventures, Pixel the fox terrier joined us – and she's been the star of the show ever since!
This YouTube channel was a bit of an experiment, but mostly an easy way to show our family back in Australia what we were up to. The "chef" part of the channel was our attempt at not being "just another narrowboat channel." As Australian-trained chefs, we decided to share our recipes and knowledge with people who follow our adventures.
As of May 2024, we've decided to sell our beautiful boat, Andrea Rose, and move on to the next chapter of our lives. We've thoroughly enjoyed the journey and all the wonderful people we got to know along the way. Thank you! 💙

Narrowboat Chef
As we mentioned in our recent video, Narrowboat Chef has come to an end (at least for now – never say never!). We are selling our lovely home of 6 years, Andrea Rose, and moving onto new adventures.
(No, we're not pregnant and no, we're not splitting up! 🤣)
Thank you for watching our videos, sharing the adventure, trying our recipes, saying hi when you see us, and being an amazing group of people who made the journey so much more wonderful. ❤️
Much love,
Maggie, Ryan & Pixel

As our Patreons and the crew on our mailing list know, we’ve been hard at work for the past month or two. With the collaboration of several other BoatTubers, we’ve created a brand new cookbook called The Tiller Treats Cookbook! You can check it out at narrowboatchef.com/tiller
It has a theme of recipes that are relatively easy to eat while cruising along at the tiller of a narrowboat – but we're pretty confident that all the recipes will taste just as good no matter where you're eating them, so don't fret if you don't have your own tiller handy! 😁
As we mentioned, some awesome BoatTubers have shared their favourite cruising recipes. You’ll find recipes from @NarrowboatLifeUnlocked, @FloatingOurBoat, @BoatTime, @GaryCaptainPhillips, @Fromthewatertothemountains, @WeirontheMove, @chuggingalong, and @MinimalList. We’re super excited about this cookbook thanks to this collaboration!
With the crazy inflation and cost of living crisis we're currently going through, we have decided to go with the 'pay what you can' option that we did when the Lockdown Legacy Cookbook was released, with a £1 minimum that helps with the cost of setting up and maintaining the site. We've set the RRP at £5, but given you control over how much you pay – if £1 is all you can afford, that’s perfectly okay. If you’re able to and want to support us, you have the option to pay a little more.
If you’re interested, head to narrowboatchef.com/tiller
We have some videos planned for this month as well, so if you've been missing the vlogs, especially the cooking ones, they're on their way!! 😊

We have a fix! If you read our previous message, you'll know we were having technical difficulties with our film editing software. The issue has now been resolved, thank goodness! 🎉🎉
We have decided to take down the original Chester video that had sound issues and have re-uploaded a new version. It is exactly the same video, just without the music fade in/fade out problem, so if you've already watched the original video, there is nothing new to see in the re-uploaded version - unless you want to enjoy it as it was meant to be!
A new vlog of us leaving Chester and continuing our adventure will be released tomorrow (Sunday). Thank you for your understanding and patience while we sorted out the problem!

Hey lovely viewers!
We know you have been waiting for the next video, unfortunately we are experiencing technical difficulties. Most of you likely noticed (and thanks for pointing it out to us!) that the last video we uploaded, our visit to Chester, had problems with the background music fading in and out. We didn't pick up on this before we uploaded it.
When exporting our current video, we discovered that it has the same sound issues, so we are working on either a fix or a change to new film editing software.
Sorry for the delays, hopefully we can upload our next video for you very soon!

Hi everyone,
We know we've been quiet on YouTube and social media lately - we've just been extremely busy with other work (that pays the bills!), as you can see from Pixel's picture... ;) She's working real hard...
We've got plans for videos in the near future though, plus another few boat DIY projects, so we will be back soon. Stay safe and well!

Hi guys, it's nearly here! We've uploaded the cookbook to Amazon and ordered a print copy to check over and make sure the book looks good. Once we're happy with it, we will be making it live and available on Amazon.
Now that the majority of the work for the cookbook is out of the way, we're planning on getting new videos out to you soon! Unfortunately, they had to take a back seat while we focused on the book.

Hi guys! Our video posting has slowed down a little as we are currently working hard to get our next cookbook ready for print. This cookbook will be a 'proper' hard copy cookbook, so it takes a lot more work than putting together a PDF for a digital download! The new cookbook is cold-weather themed and is due to be released early December – we will let you know a specific date when we know more. In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at one of the section pages inside!
