I learned that when a person makes dua for something, it is because Allah wants to give it to them. So the moment a desire for something sparks your heart even if it's a small thing. ASK.
I used to have this mentality I'll make dua after my salah, or after some tilawah or a zikr session or in tahajjud.
Basically after doing a good deed or at an auspicious time so the barakah and ijabah level increases. But don't delay making dua.
Sincerity outweighs everything.
If Allah didn't want to accept your dua, he would not have guided you to make the dua in the first place

If you think about something, make dua for it that moment itself.

Don’t put pressure on yourself to always have something ‘lined up’. Whether it’s a project, a job, a relationship… Constantly worrying about “what’s next” feeds anxiety. Use the time in between to make Dhikr, read, reflect,relax and Trust Allah. so you’re ready for what comes, when it comes

When Allah puts the faith of a person to trial, But a believer is steadfast on his belief, then Allah will assist them in a way that is beyond his comprehension. You need to be faithful towards Allah and you will get rewarded
Leave what you must,
Abandon who you must, Sacrifice whatever you must,
Just to preserve your faith and avoid fitnah in your deen.
