I've been there. Staring at job descriptions, feeling overwhelmed by the endless list of tools and skills.
Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Statistics, Machine Learning - the list goes on.
You wonder if you'll ever be good enough.
You question whether you made the right choice.
You feel stuck.
I remember those days clearly. Fresh into the field, I didn't know where to focus my energy.
Should I master visualization first? Should I dive deep into programming? Should I learn everything at once?
The truth is, feeling lost is part of the journey.
But here's what helped me find clarity:
I stopped trying to learn everything and started focusing on fundamentals.
I mastered SQL because data extraction is the foundation of every analysis.
I practiced Excel thoroughly because most business decisions still happen in spreadsheets.
I built small projects instead of waiting to feel "ready."
Each project taught me something new. Each mistake showed me what I needed to improve.
I networked with professionals who had walked this path before me. I asked questions.
I stayed curious.
Slowly, the fog lifted.
Today, I work as a Decision Analyst at Accenture and have mentored over 2,000 students through this same confusion.
If you're feeling lost right now, know this:
Every expert you admire once felt exactly like you do today. The difference is they kept moving forward despite the uncertainty.
Start small. Build consistently. Trust the process.
Have you ever felt lost in your data analytics journey? What helped you find your way?
Let's discuss in the comments.

Hey ,
Iโm Mukesh, and Iโm looking for a fresher video editor to join me on this exciting little journey Iโve started.
I run a YouTube channel that Iโm really passionate about โ sharing insights, tips, and experiences to help people grow in their careers and in data analytics.
Right now, itโs just me handling everything, but the channel is starting to grow, and I feel like itโs time to level up the editing game.
Iโm looking for someone whoโs:
Creative and curious
Quick to learn and adapt
Excited about creating content for YouTube & social media (shorts/reels)
Iโll be honest โ the pay isnโt huge at the moment (around โน100-200 per edited minute), but this is the early stage. As the channel grows, the budget will grow too. The vibe is very much โletโs figure it out together and build something cool.โ
If youโre interested, send me your portfolio/reel (even if itโs small or just a few projects youโve worked on). Would love to see your creativity and editing style! If youโre interested, Iโd be happy to share a short 3-minute sample clip from an upcoming video for you to edit and show your style.
Letโs create something impactful!
