Snakebite โ Key Facts (India) ๐
India: ~50,000 deaths/year (50% of global cases).
High-risk states: UP, AP, Bihar, Jharkhand, MP, Odisha.
Peak: Monsoon & harvest season.
Big Four snakes:
1. Common Krait โ neurotoxic
2. Russellโs Viper โ hemotoxic
3. Indian Cobra โ neurotoxic
4. Saw-scaled Viper โ hemotoxic
Prevention: Boots, torch, avoid floor sleeping.
First Aid: Keep calm, immobilize, hospital quickly; no cutting, sucking, ice, or tight tourniquet.
Treatment: Polyvalent Antivenom only.
WHO goal: Halve deaths by 2030
