‼️Vanitas no Carte spoilers ‼️


finished the vnc manga and the amount of proof that noé has feelings for vanitas is insane. all the relationships in this series are complex, from my point of view noé loves domi as a sister! which i love their relationship and domi having feelings for noé despite him being oblivious and not seeming to share those same feelings is sad, i highly doubt that will affect their relationship at all if they ever talked about their feelings. people in the fandom seem to think noé has feelings for jeanne..? which domi also assumes and i might be blind but i can't find where they got that assumption from (⁠-⁠_⁠-⁠;⁠) i do think they have a cute friendship despite noé being jealous of jeanne and i hope they interact more in future chapters. noé and vanitas... while reading this i've noticed a ton of different situations where noé seemed to have romantic feelings for vanitas and he doesn't exactly know that himself until later as he said so himself.

I. in the first two slides noé is mentioning how he's jealous that jeanne got to drink vanitas' blood before him and at all, which the fact that he's that hurt over it and jealous with him not really knowing vanitas that long. maybe it's normal for vampires to be jealous over who marks and drinks who's blood but it just seems like an extreme reaction in such a small amount of time if that makes sense and he got up right away to follow them.

II. slides three, four, and five are all the same conversation and so after noé saw that jeanne marked vanitas he waits until they're alone together (dancing) and asks vanitas what love is. vantias gives noé what he's decided love is and after hearing vanitas' answer noé seems upset and asks vanitas what makes him love jeanne with vanitas' answer basically being how she'd never love him back and how he doesn't have interest in someone who'd love him. noé was shocked by that and it ends with him saying how he doesn't understand vanitas and then we get future noé (from when he's writing this, after he killed vanitas) and what he says is even more proof of him having feelings for vanitas, "i would not truly understand... The meaning of the stirring i felt in my heart... until quite some time later."

III. slide six, vanitas was injured and bleeding while they were in the middle and important conversation and all noé could think about is drinking vanitas' blood to the point he said something he didn't mean to say at all and losing focus on the conversation. the vampires in vnc do not need blood like in ons, it's not mandatory to live or anything but they don't usually have that reaction to blood in general either. the fact that noé reacted how he did and how just the smell of vanitas' blood had such an impact on him has to mean something and i don't think it was ever resolved. all that happened was noé started to ask vanitas for a slight sip of his blood and was shut down before he could finish his sentence and I believe that's because vanitas thought he was gonna do it to peer into his memories and thought that was noé's intentions which it wasn't but i don't remember how that conversation ended exactly other than noé being shut down.

IV. slide seven, after Vanitas realized he might really be falling in love with jeanne from his talk with roland and oliver he ran off upset at the thought of someone being able to love him, noé followed after him and then later that night vanitas was sitting on the roof and noé came to talk to him and basically say how thankful he was to meet vanitas and then remembered over hearing what vanitas said earlier about someone being able to fall for him and then went on to tell "of course... i still don't like you or anything."??? how i took that was basically noé trying to avoid pushing vanitas away and not make him uncomfortable or upset but also kinda confirming he might have feelings for vanitas?? and when i say he might have feelings, i don't think noé knows that at all as he's really oblivious to things like that and so back to the previous slides where he said he wouldn't understand the feelings in his heart until much later is just hinting more to romantic feelings when he's less oblivious.

V. official art at the beginning of one of the volumes, i noticed noé's arm on vanitas' side is out more than usual unlike what we can see of vanitas'. i think it's hinting at the feeling either being one sided or vantias keeping his feelings hidden. noé's arm is what seems to be reaching out for vantias and the pictures in front of noé's side are pictures of the scenes that includes the both of them while the middle is pictures about both of them while vanitas' side is his past which is clearly a big thing in his life still and holding him back from moving on and living. this art could also have something to do with the fact that vantias dies early on by noé as his wish does come true. so some theories as to why vanitas' arm isn't out like noé's (from what we can see) are, he doesn't share the same feelings as noé, which is completely possible as he is in a relationship(?) with jeanne that is progressing. another is he dies before noé gets to know how vantias feels back and so noé never gets to know how vanitas felt about him, and my last theory is that his hand is covered to hide his feelings, which there could be multiple reasons for that.

okay done ranting about this, i've only watched the anime before reading this and already the manga is better than the anime per usual. if you have anything you wanna share with me on their relationship PLEASE let me know!
