ఓం నమః శివాయ
నేను శివుడికి నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను అని అర్థం. ఓం నమః శివాయ అనేది పంచాక్షర మంత్రం. అంటే 5 అక్షరాలు కలిగినది. కేవలం ఐదంటే ఐదు అక్షరాల మహత్తర కలయికయిన ఈ మంత్రం పఠిస్తే అసాధారణ ఫలితాలను ఇస్తుంది. చరిత్రలో అనేది ఈ పంచాక్షరి మంత్రంతోనే పరమోన్నతమైన స్థాయికి చేరుకున్నారంటే అతిశయోక్తి కాదేమో. మరో విషయం ఏమిటంటే.. ఈ పంచాక్షరాలు ప్రకృతిలోని పంచభూతాలను సైతం సూచిస్తాయి. ఈ పంచాక్షరాలపై పట్టు సాధిస్తే తిరుగులేని శక్తివంతులవుతారని నమ్మకం.

2. ఓం త్రయంబకం యజామహే సుగంధిం పుష్టి వర్ధనం
ఉర్వారు కమివ బంధనాన్ మృత్యోర్ ముక్షీయ మామృతాత్‌
ఇది మహా మృత్యంజయ మంత్రము. దీనినే త్య్రంబక మంత్రము లేదా రుద్ర మంత్రము అని కూడ అంటారు. అందరికి శక్తినిచ్చే ముక్కంటి దేవుడు, సుగంధ పరిమళం కలిగి పుష్టిని వృద్ధి చేసే మూడు కన్నుల పరమేశ్వరా.. నిన్ను పూజిస్తున్నాను. పక్వమైన తొడిమ నుంచి దోసపండును ఎలా వేరుచేస్తున్నావో అదేవిధంగా మృత్యువు నుంచి నన్ను వేరుచేయుము. అమృత సమానమైన మోక్షము నుంచి విడివడకుండ ఉండును గాక అని అర్థం. ఈ మంత్రం జపించడం వల్ల అకాల మరణం తొలగిపోతుందని, రక్షణ లభిస్తుందని నమ్మకం.

3. ఓం తత్పురుషాయ విద్మహే మహాదేవాయ ధీమహి తన్నో రుద్రః ప్రచోదయాత్
ఇది శివ గాయత్రీ మంత్రం . నాకు బుద్ధిని, జ్ఞానాన్ని ప్రసాదించమని అడగడం.. అలాగే నా హృదయాన్ని శాశ్వతమైన కాంతితో ప్రకాశింపజేసే శక్తిని కలుగజేయాలని కోరడం దీని అర్థం. పాప ఫలితాల నుంచి విముక్తి పొందాలంటే శివ నామస్మరణ చేయడం ఉత్తమం. శివ పరమాత్మను మనసారా ధ్యానించి.. ప్రతిరోజూ పూజించే వారికి పుణ్యఫలాలు చేకూరుతాయని విశ్వాసం.

4. కర్పూర్ గౌరం కరుణావతారం
సంసారసారం భుజగేంద్రహారం
సదావసంతం హృదయారవిందే
భవం భవానీసహితం నమామి
కర్పూరం వంటి తెల్లగా, స్వచ్ఛంగా ఉండేవాడు.. కరుణా స్వరూపుడు.. పామును మెడలో హారంగా ధరించిన వాడు.. ప్రపంచ ఉనికిని సారాంశాన్ని తెలియజెప్పిన మహానుభావుడు.. ఎల్లప్పుడూ భక్తుల హృదయ కమలంలో నివశించువాడు.. పార్వతితో కలిసి ఉన్న శివుడికి నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

5. క‌రచరణా కృతం వా కాయ‌జం క‌ర్మజం వా
శ్రవ‌న్నయ‌న‌జం వా మాన‌సం వా
ప‌ర‌ధాం విహితం విహితం వా
స‌ర్వ మేత‌త క్షమ‌స్వ
జ‌య జ‌య క‌రుణాబ్దే శ్రీ మ‌హ‌దేవ్ శంభో
చేతులు, కాళ్లు, మాటలు, చెవులు, కళ్లు, పనులు, మనస్సు ద్వారా చేసిన అన్నీ తప్పులకు క్షమాపణ కోరుతూ.. ఆ పరమేశ్వరుడిని ప్రార్థిస్తున్నాను అని అర్థం. ఈ శ్లోకం ముఖ్యంగా అన్నీ పాపాలకు క్షమాపణ కోరడం కోసం ఉపయోగిస్తారు.
