A Couple of Drifters
We're Fiona (Ireland) and Jerry (U.S.A.). As travellers, we see places for what they are and what they aren't. That requires an honest look and we hope our videos show you that - the good, the bad and the downright odd.
True travel and exploration to us means hitchhiking and never booking anything - even accommodation. Still, we manage to see a lot and have a great time in the process, even on a budget of $15 USD each per day.
Our promise is to show you how different the world is from what you know at home and how remarkable those variations truly are.
A Couple of Drifters
On this date (June 13th) 2013 we began a yearlong epic adventure, hitchhiking from Portland, Maine to the Panama Canal, Panama and back again. The attached photos are from the beginning of that adventure.

A Couple of Drifters
We owe yous all some MASSIVE apologies! We just discovered something this afternoon that has left us mortified. By chance Jerry was clicking around and stumbled upon a tonne of comments that we've not gotten back on 😟😟!
These were comments that we had originally responded to, HOWEVER then the commenter got back to us and we were unaware that they had. We also found comments where other folk jumped in on the comment thread and again we had no idea that they had left their input! Jerry discovered all of this in an area of the "response status" - something we had never looked at before 😧! However we will be looking at it from now on.
Unfortunately we are aware that YouTube deletes comments that haven't been published after 60 days. We can only sadly assume our ignorance of this "response status" area has resulted in many of your comments unwittingly being deleted 😞 over the last year. Again we are incredibly sorry for our stupidity and ineptitude.
We honestly cannot apologise to yous all enough. We cannot tell yous how much we appreciate yous taking time out of your day, to watch our videos and leave us lovely comments. We love hearing from yous and we love getting back to yous. As far as we know this "Community" just reaches our subscribers but we also want to apologise to anyone who isn't subscribed and whose comments we may not have gotten back to, and hence have been deleted. Yes even the folk who hop in to crucify us 😉, if we have not gotten back on your comments we apologise, it was not intentional!
We may be a Couple of Drifters, but we are also a Couple of Gobshites/Gobdaws/Eejits (all wonderful Irish terms meaning...idiots)!
We are still figuring out a lot of this YouTube stuff - filming, editing, trying to be at ease on camera. We know this is absolutely no excuse for our unintended ignorance about the comments and todays chance discovery.
Now that we have found all of these comments which date back about a month, we promise we will be getting back to each and every one of them over the next few days. We've responded to a few and released them this evening.
Again please accept our sincerest apologies if you've taken the time over the last year and all you got was radio silence back from us. We are absolutely morto (Irish slang for mortified). We honestly have never intended to ignore any comments.

A Couple of Drifters
Hello Everyone.
We've had an idea! We plan on sharing what the hotels that we stay in are like with you. Keep in mind our budget is $15 each per day and that includes EVERYTHING - accommodation, food, transport, entertainment...
We just want to let you see what is available out there on this kind of budget. That and we've got a tonne of hotel footage that we've never done anything with 😉.
So as of this week we hope to get a hotel video out every Wednesday, starting this week Jan. 12th with a video of our hotel in Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala.
The videos will show exactly what we get for a room, the cost and an honest review from us of our stay.
We'll also continue with our usual travel videos being released on Sundays (or as close to Sundays as we can 😉).
Please let us know what you think of this as an idea - hotel videos. Are you interested in seeing the kinds of places that we stay in, whether they be in major cities or rural towns/villages?

Happy Christmas Chickens (Irish term of endearment)!
We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year too. Thank you all for your love, support and comments over the last year since we released our first video in the middle of January.
We are sorry we did not have a video for yous last week. However we have some more BIG news to share with yous in our next video which we'll release later today.
We're also sorry our messages are always last minute but we don't want to make any promises of a video until we know there actually will be a video! Being back on the road and sketchy wifi makes getting a weekly video out more challenging.
We hope you'll continue to enjoy our adventures in the upcoming year. Hopefully we'll make it to 2,000 subscribers!

A Couple of Drifters
Hello Everyone.
We will have a video for you tomorrow - Sunday. Now that we're back on the road we're adapting to - juggling getting footage, editing footage and picking up sticks every few days. We realise how spoiled we were house sitting with solid, lightning-fast wifi and upload speeds...not to mention all the home comforts 😉.
We've spent the last few weeks in Michoacán and we're excited to bring you another of many videos from this gorgeous state tomorrow. HOWEVER what prompted us to make this video more than anything was the kindness that we were shown in Apatzingán, Michoacán. We're already thrilled to be back out on the road, and we've been reminded so many times in the last few weeks of the kindness of strangers. The simplest circumstances and chance encounters can produce the most rewarding memories of travel. We're honoured to share just a few of these lovely happenstance moments with yous in our Apatzingán, Michoacán video.

Hello everyone.
Well here we are, we're finally getting around to saying "Hello" to you all on our Community page! Firstly we want to say a very massive "Thank you" to everyone who has subscribed to our channel - you have helped us reach 1,000 subscribers! This is a very big deal for us, so thanks a million for hitting the subscribe button and for sticking with us as we continue to figure out all that's involved in creating videos. It's been quite the learning curve!
