I’m sitting here in the Seattle airport thinking about what I just saw from the #49ers last night. Some quick thoughts.
-SF got beat by a younger, deeper, faster, healthier team that was rested and ready to go.
-The stacking of short rest weeks, travel, combined with a depleted roster due to injury, was too much to overcome
-The Niners need to find some edge rushers who scare OTs. They have very little young DE depth.
-They need to find great LBs, their next Warner, the next Willis. LB used to be a major strength for SF with multiple guys w/impact strength, speed and instincts. This year it was a hodge podge and not nearly good enough.
-A true #1 CB w/size who can matchup and neutralize the Puka Nacuas and JSNs that live in this division has to be a primary need.
-FA priorities in order
1-Jauan Jennings-but not at $20M+ per year!
2-Eddy Piniero
3-Spencer Burford
4-Skyy Moore
5-Yetur Gross Matos
-The rest can walk(Elliott, Pinnock, Givens,Bourne, Morestead, Kendricks, Weeks, Gifford, Hennessey, BRobinson, Taylor)
-what’s most depressing is that ‘26 brings so much offensive uncertainty.
Kittle likely is out for most of the year.
CMC is coming off a 400+ touch season,
Aiyuk is gone,
Pearsall may be too.
They need their future LT
-SF may lose both coordinators to HC offers.
-Top needs? In no order: DT, DE, LB, #1 CB, Receiving TE, dynamic WR, LT, and Center
-Seattle’s defense is fast, but the Niners’ weapons are largely slow, and they have gotten smothered the last two games vs SEA.
-zero #49ers TDs in the last two matchups should lead to an offensive shakeup. SF needs to add a dynamic TE, and a WR w/size and vertical speed,.
-The ST had been a positive so to see it buckle in the biggest moment was a tough thing to watch.
-Jake Tonges played well, despite the fumble, and then got hurt.
-Ricky Pearsall was a non factor. Again.
-Here are the 20 UFA’s that I think the #49ers should consider signing this offseason:
QB-Zach Wilson
RB-Najee Harris, Breece Hall
WR-Romeo Doubs, Alec Pierce, Wandale Robinson
TE-Kyle Pitts, Isiah Likely
OT-Josh Jones
DE-Kingsley Enagbare, Boye Mafe, Jaelan Phillips, Michael Clemons, Sam Williams
DT-Sheldon Rankins
LB-Devin Lloyd
S-Nick Cross
CB-Nahshon Wright, Alontae Taylor, Tariq Woolan
-Best story of the year: There is now zero doubt that Purdy is a top level QB worth the $50M+ he’s making, He put that debate to rest.
-in Conclusion The ‘25 49ers were gritty and resilient bunch but, by season’s end, were a depleted mash unit of a team. Taking down Phiilly was a pleasant surprise but Lynch and company have some serious building to do to become a Super Bowl Championship caliber team.

Turnovers are vitally important but there is very little rhyme or reason to when they happen. #49ers

#49ers Brock Purdy completed just 1 of 7 passes beyond 10 air yards for 25 yards, with all 3 of his passes over 20 air yards resulting in interceptions.

Just watched the beginning of #49ers Wednesday practice here in Santa Clara. Some quick thoughts:
1-Brock Purdy is definitely playing Sunday vs Arizona. He took 1st team reps and was 1st in individual drills.
2-Purdy still looks compromised IMO. He Runs gingerly, his passes lack the zip I saw in July. Looks sore.
3-Ricky Pearsall is definitely playing Sunday as well. He led the WR line in individual/position drills.
4–No Trent Williams and CMC. Both given vet day off to rest, typical for Wednesdays
5-Tatum Bethune practiced but appeared to be extremely limited
6-Alfred Collins ran on a side field
7-Mac Jones took 2nd team reps

The 49ers loss vs Texans starts and ends with the defensive line and pressuring the QB:
Mac Jones was pressured 18 times (on HALF of his dropbacks). When under pressure, Jones was: 4/13, 64 yards, 1 INT
Stroud was pressured at a season low of 21.4% of dropbacks, DESPITE the 49ers blitzing on a season-HIGH 33.3% of dropbacks
When the 49ers didn't blitz, they had a 7.1% pressure rate.

It’s about time he played. Watkins is not just a track guy w/4.3 speed. He has polish as a receiver and he can and will contribute significantly if the #49ers’ coaching staff gives him a shot. The Niners have not had a dynamic weapon like Watkins in awhile

After perusing the practice squads of all 32 NFL teams, here are 3 young LBs the #49ers should pursue
Chris Paul Jr-Seattle
Eugene Asante-Cleveland
Chandler Martin-Baltimore
These three young LBs are all better with way more upside and future than SF’s current LBs
Curtis Robinson
Luke Gifford
Jaylen Graham
ST LBs are a luxury item when you need scrimmage LBs.
