The "Aotai Line" is one of the most difficult hiking routes in China, known as the "Death Crossing Line"
The Aotai Line, also known as the Aoshan to Taibaishan Crossing Route, is a hiking adventure route located in the Qinling Mountains. Features of the Aotai Line:

Length and Difficulty: The total length of the Aotai Line is about 150 to 170 kilometers. During the crossing process, it is necessary to cross 17 mountains with an altitude of more than 3,000 meters, which is a great test of the hiker's physical strength, endurance and willpower1.

Altitude: The average altitude of the route reaches 3,400 meters, of which the Aoshan landmark tower is 3,476 meters above sea level, and the main peak of Taibai Mountain, Baxiantai, is 3,771.2 meters above sea level2.

Climate: The climate in the Aotai Line crossing area is changeable, and it may experience four seasons in one day, including severe weather such as strong winds, heavy rain, hail, dense fog, ice and snow.

Terrain: The route mainly crosses the highest section of the main ridge of the Qinling Mountains, with complex and varied terrain, including blade ridge crosscuts, stone circles, and alpine meadows and stone mixed areas1.

Supply: Since there are no supply points along the way, traversers need to walk in uninhabited areas for a long time, which places high demands on survival skills.

Getting lost and missing: Due to the complex and changeable routes, every year there are hikers who unfortunately die due to getting lost, falling off cliffs or hypothermia.

Extreme weather: Bad weather conditions increase the difficulty and safety risks of crossing1.

History: From 2012 to the summer of 2017, forty-six people froze to death or disappeared due to the Aotai Line3.

Legend: The Aotai Line has been endowed with many mysterious colors, such as the "Qinling Night Civet Cat Incident", which adds to its weird and terrifying atmosphere.
