‪@Official_ArijitSingh‬ the legend stepping away from playback singing feels deeply connected to the message of his independent song Sukoon — where peace isn’t searched for outside, but found within oneself.
Perhaps this decision comes from a place where music is no longer about racing against deadlines or fitting into fixed frames, but about honesty, freedom, and inner calm.
In cinema, songs are often bound by time, demand, and expectation — sometimes making an artist feel more like a tool than a soul. Choosing not to be part of that system anymore takes courage.
It’s also meaningful that the creators of the song, Salim Merchant (Salim Sulaiman), have themselves stepped away from regular film music, choosing a more independent, self-driven path.
If this is retirement from playback, then maybe it’s also a rebirth — one where we get to see more independent albums, more personal music, and more of the artist as he truly is.
