#Jallikattu festivities began with the traditional bull-taming event at #Avaniyapuram in #Madurai district, drawing over a thousand bulls and hundreds of participants as part of the #Pongal celebrations.



State Minister P Moorthy inaugurated the event by flagging off at #Avaniyapuram at 7.30 am in the presence of #Madurai district collector KJ Praveen Kumar and others. The event will go on till evening.



The #AvaniyapuramJallikattu is being conducted on the #Avaniyapuram–#Thiruparankundram Road, where infrastructure works worth Rs 67 lakh were taken up by the #Madurai district administration and the #MaduraiCorporation. Bulls and bull tamers were registered online, and tokens were issued digitally.

For the #Avaniyapuram event, more than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed in and around the area to maintain order.

Book a bus, train or metro ticket for just Rs 1 from Thursday!




Yes, you read it right, commuters can travel by just buying an #MTC, #Metro or suburban train ticket for just Rs 1 when they purchase it on the #ChennaiOneApp and make the payment online.





The offer can be redeemed once per registered user during the campaign period. Commuters can access the offer by selecting their route on the #chennaioneapp and completing payment through #BHIM or #NaviUPI. Surprise cashbacks are also being offered on subsequent transactions.





The limited-period offer is being rolled out by CUMTA under the ‘One Rupee Ticket’ campaign to encourage digital payments and multi-modal public transport use through its unified mobility platform - Chennai One. The offer aims to drive adoption of the city’s ‘one city, one app, one ticket’ vision for seamless travel.
