Coming to the Jerusalem Lights YouTube Channel this Sunday, 22 Tevet - January 11, 2026...

A Jerusalem Lights Original Special Presentation:
THE EXODUS BEFORE THE EXODUS
produced, written and narrated by Hillel Richman

Were Ancient Israelites Present in Canaan Before the Exodus?
Was There More Than One Exodus from Egypt?

What if we are looking at the Biblical Exodus from Egypt in the wrong way—and missing part of the picture?
What if there was more than one Exodus of Israelites from Egypt?
Could it be that some Israelites entered and settled the Promised Land while others remained enslaved behind?
Is it possible that the Bible itself preserves hints of a smaller, earlier Exodus—one that predated the national event we know so well?
In 'The Exodus Before the Exodus', we explore this possibility by examining the Biblical text, ancient Jewish sources, and historical and archaeological evidence.

Join us in this fascinating documentary as we attempt to weave together a missing strand of Biblical history—and bring to light a story rarely told.

NOW PLAYING: A JERUSALEM LIGHTS SPECIAL PRESENTATION

Sacred Directions - Spatial Orientation in the Bible

In the Bible, directional terms represent more than geography—they carry deep meaning and symbolism.
This short film explores how, in Biblical Hebrew, even the most ordinary words—East, West, North, and South—are layered with significance, spiritual depth, and linguistic beauty.

How can we even think that we can talk about G-d? Is it not impertinent to think that we can even speak about Him? What do we even know about Him? We know that He is the Creator. We know that He is endless. We know that He is uniquely One. So how do we relate to this endless perfect Oneness? Torah teaches us that we can relate to Him through His names. Our portion begins with the transition of God identifying Himself not as El Shaddai, as He revealed to the forefathers, but with His identity as YHVH...His proper name. What is the secret of this name, which we reverentially refer to as 'Hashem,' the Name?

The Torah portion of Va'era (Exodus 6 : 2 - 9 : 35) is read on Shabbat, 25 Tevet 5785 - January 25, 2025

What is the secret of Moses' staff, sometimes described by Torah as 'the staff of God?' Is it a Divinely-created object, passed down amongst the ranks of the righteous since the time of Adam...or is it a simple piece of wood? What is the lesson for our lives today?

Our apologies that the publication of this video was delayed.

Secrets of the Hebrew Alphabet Part Two: Transformation

The sequel to 'Origins', 'Transformation' presents a deep dive into the history of the Hebrew Alphabet, focusing on the monumental shift in the Torah’s script. This video uncovers the mysterious transition from the ancient Paleo-Hebrew script to the square Aramaic script adopted during the Babylonian exile. What triggered this profound change, and what hidden meanings lie beneath it? We explore this transformation through both historical and spiritual lenses, telling the story with an unprecedented and uniquely original approach, as we reveal how this shift impacted the Jewish people and their connection to the Torah.
