I lived most of my career by a creed, one of the stanzas had a portion that I always held close!

My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.
I am not into the superior officers aspect anymore especially after two decades of constant lack of competence at various levels by NCOs and commissioned officers. I constantly live by the second half of the phrase.
