Gospel (Juan 1:6-8.19-28)
6. Ang Dios nagpadala ug usa ka tawo nga ginganlag Juan
7. Aron pagsaksi ngadto sa mga tawo mahitungod sa maong kahayag aron ang tanan makadungog sa mensahe ug motuo.
8. Si Juan dili mao ang kahayag apan mianhi siya aron pagsaksi mahitungod sa kahayag.
19. Ang mosunod mao ang testimonyo ni Juan sa dihang ang kadagkoan sa mga mga Judio sa Jerusalem nagpadalag mga pari ug mga levita aron pagpangutana kang Juan kon kinsa siya.
20. Wala magdumili si Juan pagtubag kanila. Mitug-an siya sa walay lipudlipod nga dili siya mao ang Mesiyas.
21. " Kinsa ka man diay?" Nangutana sila. " Si Elias ka ba?"
"Dili ," mitubag siya.
" Ikaw ba ang propeta nga among gipaabot?" Nangutana sila.
" Dili," mitubag siya.
22. Ug sila miingon, " kon mao kana, sultihi kami kon kinsa ka aron may ikatubag kami sa mga nagsugo kanamo. Unsa may ikasulti mo mahitungod sa imong kaugalingon?"
23. Si Juan mitubag pinaagi sa mga pulong ni propeta Isaias:
" Ako mao ' ang tingog nga nagsinggit sa kamingawan:
Tul-ira ang dalan nga agian sa Ginoo!' "
24. Ang mga sinugo pinadala sa mga Pariseo.
25. Gipangutana na usab nila si Juan, " kon ikaw dili mao ang Mesiyas o si Elias o ang Propeta, nganong namunyag ka man? "
26. Si Juan mitubag, " Ako nagbunyag pinaagi sa tubig. Apan may usa diha kaninyo nga wala ninyo hiilhi.
27. Moabot Siya sunod kanako apan ako dili takos bisan gani paghubad sa higot sa iyang sandalyas. "
28. Kining tanan nahitabo didto sa Betania, sa tabok sa Suba sa Jordan diin namunyag si Juan.

2nd Rdg. 1Cor. 1:3-9
Gospel, Mk. 13: 33-37
Let's recall the Gospels from the previous Sundays:
1. The Master on a journey and leave his tenants with "talents" for them to use and expound it.
2. The Master on his journey gave to his servants 10 gold coins to use it for business
3. Last Sunday the King separates men to be placed on his right and on his left. Men on the right - the good ones and men on the left is the opposite.
And today, Jesus Christ reminds his disciples to be alert/watchful!What does Jesus meant?
The meaning of Advent is - Coming. The coming of Jesus Christ into the world. . .
I'll share a true story of an OFW, who without any notice to his family - returned home. All his family were in awe, why!
The father asked the younger child on what she did when he was not around. Her child in reply, I help mama in the kitchen - cooking. The father smiled and said, take a vacation, I love to cook too.
To the eldest child, he ask the same question, and in reply the son said, watering the plant and fixing minor fixtures at home. His father said, take vacation, I can do what you've been doing.
Their children went on to a 3 month vacation and upon their arrival they went straight to the hospital as their father is dying of cancer and could no longer talk. The children cried and asked why did their father did not tell them the truth of his health. And the mother told them that it the wish of their father so he can recover a little of what is lost at home, while he was working abroad. . .
Brother and sisters, that is how big the love of God for us - his people. That he gave his only Jesus Christ to save us from sin eternity. This is the essence of Advent.
Yes, we must be on guard and watchful that we may able to present a decent accounting of our life when time comes for us to meet Jesus. Are we prepared just like the servants who doubled the talents they received and those who got gold coins? Do we belong to the people on the right side of the king? . . .
Lord help us
