Sir
You were my friend by proximity, my coworker by routine, my colleague by shared exhaustion— which somehow makes this hurt harder to explain.
We didn’t trade confessions. We traded time. P-ways. Deadlines. Inside jokes meant only to survive the day.
Now your stateroom remains empty As if it is waiting for you to come back from lunch.
I didn’t know I was allowed to miss you this much. But the work continues, and that might be the cruelest part.
