The International Cricket Council (ICC), along with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), have concluded an open, constructive and positive dialogue covering the T20 World Cup 2026 situation and the broader future of cricket in South Asia.

Despite Bangladesh’s unfortunate absence from the tournament, the ICC has strongly reaffirmed that Bangladesh remains a valued Full Member nation, with a proud cricketing legacy and a massive fanbase of over 200 million passionate supporters.

Key outcomes from the discussions:

✅ No penalty or sanction for BCB

The ICC confirmed that no financial, sporting, or administrative penalty will be imposed on the Bangladesh Cricket Board in relation to this matter.

✅ BCB can still approach the DRC
The BCB retains its right to approach the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) if it chooses to do so, as per ICC regulations.

✅ Bangladesh set to host an ICC event (2028–2031)

As part of this understanding, it has been agreed that Bangladesh will host an ICC tournament before the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2031, subject to ICC’s standard hosting procedures and operational requirements.

The ICC also made it clear that its approach remains rooted in neutrality, fairness, and unity, focusing on supporting cricket development rather than punishment.

A strong statement of intent — protecting the game’s integrity while ensuring Bangladesh’s cricket continues to grow on the global stage.
