Honey is SUGAR too.
And sugar is sugar no matter the source.
All sugar are processed the same in the liver,
Whether from fruits or table sugar.
You are better off without SUGAR!

π Crunchy Texture:
They have a crunchy texture, making them a satisfying snack or a great addition to salads and vegetable platters.
π Digestibility:
Some people may find raw carrots harder to digest, especially those with digestive issues or sensitive stomachs.
For Cooked Carrots
π Increased Antioxidants:
Cooking carrots can increase the availability of antioxidants like beta carotene, making them more accessible to the body.
π Soft Texture:
Cooking softens carrots, making them easier to chew and digest, which can be particularly beneficial for young children or individuals with dental issues.

Stay Safe from the Deadly Brain-Eating Amoeba: Recent Fatalities in Kerala
A Silent Invader: Naegleria fowleri
The brain-eating amoeba, scientifically known as Naegleria fowleri, has recently claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy in Kerala. This rare but deadly infection, primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM), has raised concerns among health officials and the public alike.
How Does the Amoeba Enter the Body?
Naegleria fowleri infects individuals by entering through the nose, typically during swimming in warm freshwater. It then travels to the brain, destroying brain tissue and causing severe swelling and inflammation. Notably, the infection cannot be contracted by drinking contaminated water and is not communicable between people.
Symptoms to Watch Out For
Initial symptoms of PAM include headache, fever, nausea, and vomiting. As the infection progresses, more severe symptoms such as a stiff neck, confusion, seizures, hallucinations, and coma can develop. Tragically, most infected individuals die within 1 to 18 days after symptoms begin.
Treatment Challenges
Currently, there is no definitive treatment for primary amoebic meningoencephalitis. Medical professionals use a combination of drugs, including amphotericin B, azithromycin, fluconazole, rifampin, miltefosine, and dexamethasone. However, these treatments have not been consistently effective.
Recent Cases and Preventive Measures
The recent death of the 14-year-old boy, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kerala, has prompted health authorities to take immediate preventive measures. The infection was traced back to a small pond where the boy had been swimming. This is the third reported case of PAM in Kerala since May.
Earlier incidents include the death of a five-year-old girl from Munniyoor in Malappuram after bathing in the Munniyoor river, and a 12-year-old boy from Ramanattukara, Malappuram, who remains in critical condition after swimming in a pond.
Understanding the Threat
Naegleria fowleri thrives in warm freshwater environments, such as lakes, rivers, poorly maintained swimming pools, and other recreational water venues, especially in temperatures up to 46 degrees Celsius. Awareness and precautionary measures are crucial to prevent further tragedies.
By understanding the nature of this deadly amoeba and recognizing the early symptoms of infection, we can better protect ourselves and our loved ones from this silent invader.
