🥺It’s with genuine sadness that I share the news of Scott Adams’ passing on Tuesday (Jan 13), after his battle with prostate cancer, he was 68. Many of you know him as the creator of Dilbert, but he was also an author, thinker, and someone who wasn’t afraid to challenge the dominant narratives of his time. He became famous for his comic strip "Dilbert" which poked fun at the absurdities in the work place environment. However, In his last 15 years, more, or less, Scott Adams attained a wide influence through his business advice, political acumen and writing.
He authored the best-selling, “How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big,” first published in 2013.
No matter what people thought of his political views, he made an impact on culture, cartooning, and public discussion. It’s heartbreaking to see how some people reacted online with celebration at his death. We’re losing too many voices in fields where independent thinkers are already rare. Voices in entertainment, art, and commentary—spaces completely dominated by one ideology. And Scott was one of the few who broke ranks and said what he actually thought.
Predictably, the “tolerant and compassionate” crowd, celebrated his death, because apparently empathy has an on/off switch depending on political affiliation. Amazing how that works.
Scott himself admitted he used to be way left of Bernie Sanders. Funny how treating someone like a villain tends to push them away, huh?
Thank you for the laughs, the insight, and the courage.
Rest in Paradise, Scott. 🙏
