I’m Buffer. At 56 years old, I’ve decided that "retirement" isn’t a destination. It’s a departure. I traded the traditional comfort zone for a single suitcase and a mission to see the world on my own terms. Whether I’m on a motorbike in the Philippines, piloting a tuk-tuk across Sri Lanka, or backpacking into the unknown, I’m here to show that the best chapters of life are the ones we write ourselves.
This isn’t your typical "Top 10" travel channel. I focus on the raw, impromptu reality of long-term travel in your 50s. Join me as I explore:
The Lifestyle: Staying healthy and productive on the move.
The Budget: The financials of living out of a suitcase on $20 a night.
The Sincerity: Dealing with failures and overcoming fears (like heights!).
I’m living proof that you are never too old to be brave. Subscribe to join the journey. New Episode Every Week

Cebu is definitely NOT what I expected. 🌴
I went into the mountains to find a waterfall and cave with a guide named "Lightning," ended up trying to survive a 120°F (49°C) boiling river, and somehow walked away with a marriage proposal from a mom of nine. 💍👶
The $20 beach hut was the only thing that made sense today.
Video is LIVE now! The road is in charge.

The road decides... and today it decided on "Rum," Bamboo, and Bucket Showers! 🇵🇭🏍️
I left the beach and headed into the mountains of Negros with no plan and even fewer hotel options. What I found was a "blogger blog-off," a bottle of mountain honey that had the locals looking at me sideways, and the best bowl of bamboo soup I’ve ever tasted.
Travel isn't about the brochures; it’s about these weird, human moments in between the map markers.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FROM WHEELPOSITIVE!
As a creator on YouTube, having a channel name representing your brand and content is essential. That is why I decided to change my channel from "WheelPositive." I thought it was a clever play on words that would attract viewers interested in bicycle touring. However, as my content has recently evolved, I realized that my channel name no longer fits my brand or the direction I want to take my channel.
My content has always been centered around bicycle travel. Still, as I gained more subscribers, I found that my audience was interested in more than cycling. They wanted to know more about the destinations I was visiting, the food I was eating, and the experiences I was having. As a result, I realized that my channel name needed to reflect this broader focus, so today, I changed it to "Buffer the Tourist."
"Buffer the Tourist" better represents my brand because it's not just about traveling; it's about traveling with intention and experiencing everything a destination offers.
I want to inspire my viewers to travel and encourage them to step outside their comfort zones and try new things, whether on a bicycle or not. "Buffer the Tourist" represents this message more accurately than WheelPositive.
Another reason I changed my channel name is that I wanted something more memorable and easier to spell. "WheelPositive," would always autocomplete as two words. Then after correcting it, the screen would be full of videos about car tires. Which made it harder for everyone to find my channel.
"Buffer the Tourist" is simple, easy to spell, and catchy, which makes it more accessible to a broader audience.
Overall, changing my channel name was a strategic decision that better aligns with my brand and my goals as a creator. It was not an easy decision, as I had built a loyal following under "WheelPositive." Still, the change will ultimately benefit my channel and my viewers.
Don’t worry, there will still be plenty of bicycle touring to come. It’s by far my favorite form of travel, and I have no plans to stop anytime soon.
Sincerely,
Buffer the Tourist
