Guita, you brought so much light, wrapped in joke after joke, always with the intention of making anyone you could smile. Your resilience and your love for life are an example to follow, and they will always stay with me.
I’m writing to you in Spanish, the language I learned thanks to you, and one of the most beautiful things in my life is being able to do so.

You leave behind a beautiful memory in the hearts of everyone who knew you — from the baker, the shoemaker, your beloved neighbors with whom you’re now sharing moments, the children who crossed your path and couldn’t hold back their laughter at the faces you made, to any stranger who tried to give you a hand and failed because you’d pull your famous move just to tease them.

Thank you for all the effort you made throughout your life and for all the times you played with me when I was a child — I couldn’t have asked for a better grandma. Your desire to live was contagious and endlessly admirable.
