I give Keeper a - 6.5
(My Review)
Let me just start by saying that Im a huge Osgood perkins fan I really like Longlegs, Pretty thing that lives in the house & I absolutely adore The Blackcoats Daughter. I havent seen Gretel & Hansel & The Monkey yet but Monkey is next on my to watch list.
I loved the trailer for Keeper it had the same quality as Longlegs. It really made you want to see the film without telling you anything about the film.
Thats how horror trailers should be made every time!
Unfortunately in my opinion its not as good as Longlegs or Pretty thing & its definitely no Blackcoats daughter.
I think its the pacing and small little choices in the character writing that really hurts this one. I love alot of slow burns but if its a slow burn I expect to at least get good information. I want to be told something about this relationship before their big getaway. Then her friend insinuating that he was married was a very bad choice, especially at that moment imo. Liz couldve eluded to it to him loosely in passing later on in the film but overwise it was unnessessary & it took away from the big (your man is alot more than just a cheating asshole) reveal at the end.
They shouldve used that time to build mystery, tension & paranoia over the strange goings on & creepy visitors. Maybe during some scenes that were there to make us give a shit about this relationship. We should have been given reasons to really like Sutherlands (Malcolm) character so that when we find out how bad of a guy he really is, the shock makes us hate him even more. Instead her friend insisting that he's married & Liz responding that strongly to it made us dislike his character too early in the film.
Little decisions like that ultimately affect the tension which affects atmosphere, which affects the pacing & the overall rewatchabilty of the film.
On the bright side I was very impressed with the performance of Tatiana Maslany. I liked Liz, I cared about her (even without the bogus your b9yfriend is married crap) & I wanted to slap the dude because it was obvious to not only her but to the audience that she cared for him much more than he cared for her. You felt for her & that was much more due to Maslanys performance than to the story or script.
She was great & carried the heart of this film imo. I was pleasantly surprised because all I had ever seen her featured in was She-Hulk.
Tatiana ahould stay far away from the MCU. Other than that the makeup was good & it had some atmpsphere & a bit of tension at the climax. It wasnt terrible it was ok. It couldve been alot better. I hope Osgood writes his own screenplay for his next film.

Watch out for this team!!!
This coming fall ur gonna see alot different team than uv seen the last few yrs. Between Fernando Mendoza, Klint Kubiak & alot of money on their side. Better watch out for the Las Vegas Raiders in the next 2 to 3 yrs.
We should keep Max Crosby imo. We dont need to let him go to get the players we need.
We have the draft picks & money to put it together with Crosby.
