I just wanted to share this so everyone can experience one of the songs that helped me most in my high school days. When I met him, I thanked him for his music helping me get through hard times but I didn’t have time to go into specific songs, but if I could change one thing about my interaction with him, it would be to specifically thank him for this song (technically, his primary lyricist for his early solo career was his on again/off again bass player Bob Daisley, but nearly all the melodies in his songs are his own and he did contribute a few lines here and there and helped arrange the songs as well). These first verse lines in particular, regardless of who wrote them, stand out as being especially relevant to me:
