Printing on Glass Using Digital Printing Technology

Challenges of Glass Printing
Printing on glass presents two major challenges. The first is ink adhesion. The smooth surface of glass makes it difficult for ink to adhere well. Printed designs can fall off if scratched by hard objects. We perform special surface treatments on the glass before printing, such as spraying a special chemical coating, to significantly improve ink adhesion. Furthermore, we can bake the glass after printing to further enhance the bond between the ink layer and the substrate. Some of our printer models support direct coating. The print head precisely applies the coating to the ink-applied areas, minimizing coating waste and the risk of chemical contamination, while improving print quality.
The second challenge is achieving perfect color on transparent glass. This requires extremely precise ink curing. Our UV curing unit offers segmented control, allowing for fine-tuned power and precise ink curing. Furthermore, our unique UV lamp design allows us to print without a light-shielding insert, protecting the printhead from clogging by cured ink. Furthermore, we can adjust the inkjet volume for each channel individually, achieving even more subtle color variations.
