Here are my personal favorite alien movies

Roland emmerich’s Independence Day (1996): Definitely one of the most iconic and badass alien invasion movies of all time and definitely an iconic blockbuster that would probably remain as badass and relevant to this very day and everything about it is genuine grandiose from its perfect casting, impressive special effects and a lot of entertaining moments that will entertain you from start to finish

War of the worlds (either the 1953 by george pal and 2005 version by Steven Spielberg): both of them are definitely one of most iconic and memorable alien invasion movies especially for incorporating impactful messages of trying not to play god and fighting for survival, thought the 2005 version is my personal favorite of the two but the 1953 version is still grandiose

John carpenter’s The thing (1982): easily one of my all time favorite horror movies and definitely one of carpenter’s masterpieces and its easily one of the best scifi horror movies of all time along with alien and everything about it is definitely grandiose, from it’s interesting story, likable and memorable characters, impactful themes of paranoia and mistrust and a lot of impressive special effects

Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979): Easily an iconic horror movie of the 70s and it’s easily my personal favorite horror movie of the decade and it will forever be a genuine masterpiece and from it’s good and engaging story, likable and memorable characters, the cinematography, the atmosphere and the special effects just seriously makes this movie one of the best scifi horror movies ever made along with the thing

Just recently rewatched world war Z

And gotta be honest, this may be a hot take to some people who enjoyed this movie and funny enough, i used to like this movie when I saw it for the first time with my family on a streaming service and I used to like it at first especially that I didint care to much if the story and characters are good or bad and my family also enjoyed it

But after giving this movie a second rewatch especially that I considered myself nowadays as a cinephile and checking of what makes the movie work or not, I do pretty admit that while the movie does have some good and decent moments but the film overall is admittedly pretty disappointing and mediocre, while I don’t consider this movie to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen but I do find it pretty overrated and disappointing despite that the movie was a critical and financial hit which is kinda baffling but whatever

I’m gonna start with the positives before going to the bottom of barrel

For the few things that I do like about the movie, I do like the opening and the first act due to the fact that I do find both of them well executed in terms of suspense and build up and I like isolated system during the intro especially that it does truly give documentary vibes and I also do like the first act when the apocalypse started especially during the famous moment in Philadelphia when the zombies attack the people and the main characters especially that it does truly give chills, kinda a shame that the movie started to go downhill as soon as the first act ended

The other few positives is that even if the movie has some few plotpoints that are convoluted and confusing and dont worry I will talk about them later as soon as I finished the positives, at least the movie does deliver on its action packed moments and they at least didint bored me for sure and I do like Brat Pitt’s character since I do find him quite badass and likable, though I can’t say the same positive thing about the other characters

And now for the things that I do disliked about the movie and boy the flaws are definitely big as the infamous zombie wall in the movie (lolol)

Anyway as soon as the first act ended, the movie started to go downhill as soon as the second and third act came, the main reason why is due to that the movie kept on constantly introducing some random plotpoints that come out of nowhere with no explanation including some moments that do have potential but they didint go anywhere including some plotpoints that are admittedly convoluted and confusing due the film is notoriously rushed and even if the movie is like an 1 hour and 56 minutes or 2 hours, the film is notoriously rushed with no time to give the movie time to breath or give anything interesting in the table and it kinda shows considering that the movie infamous dealt with a lot of trouble productions and the script kept on constantly changing and the cast and crew never getting along especially that brat Pitt and the director never saw eye to eye due to the trouble stress that the crew suffered due to rewrites on the script and the whole trouble production definitely really affected the film in general

The main reason why i do consider some plotpoints convoluted or confusing is due to the fact that the movie kept on introducing plotpoints that are quite confusing like how did North Korea knew that there was zombie apocalypse that quickly and how did they get the information from the outside world despite that they are completely isolated from the rest of the world or how did both India and Israel knew about this whole zombie apocalypse assaulting their countries and why didint they warned the rest of the world including the United nations in general about the fucking zombie invasion that was assaulting their countries, how did one zombie got on the plane and lastly, HOW DID THE FUCKING WORLD NEVER KNEW ABOUT THE FUCKING ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE EXISTED ESPECIALLY OF HOW DID NOBODY KNEW ABOUT THE PATIENT ZERO IN SOUTH KOREA BACK DURING THE KOREAN WAR UP UNTIL NOW!!! (Ugh)

The other big problem is due to the fact that the movie introduced some plotpoints and characters that do have potential but they didint go anywhere with them like the infamous Israel plotline that at first seemed interesting but it didn’t go anywhere as soon as the Jurgen told Gerry to not worry about the patient zero, which it seriously makes this plotpoint pointless especially that I do fucking hate that the movie kept on introducing some characters that at first may seemed interesting but the movie never developed them and they notoriously kept on disappearing or at times killed off for no reason like dr fassbach because he had an interesting potential to be a recurring character but he got himself killed off when they arrived in South Korea with one of the most stupidest death scenes I have ever seen in a horror movie because he only just slipped and fucking died, jurgen also has an interesting potential as a character only for him to also didint give any development or arc and instead he also disappeared as soon as the zombies climbed on the wall, the pilot is also a pointless character since at first i thought he will be a supporting character only for him to also disappeared when he took off and left Gerry like ONCE FUCKING AGAIN!!! (Ugh)

For the zombies themselves, they are definitely a mix bag, at times they do shined but at times they do look ugly

As for the characters themselves, to be honest despite that I do like brat Pitt’s Gerry character but the rest of the characters are easily pretty forgettable and boring and most of them felt like plot devices than actual interesting characters and I do mean alot of characters besides Gerry are uninteresting and unlikable from the mother,to the two little girls, to the Mexican boy, to Gerry’s friend, to the Israel soldier and heck pretty much everyone in this movie are unlikable, forgettable and boring especially that some of them made stupid decisions like why did Gerry’s wife called him during a fucking mission especially during a moment when Gerry and the other soldiers are almost about to die because of her stupidity, how did the crew of the plane never knew there was a zombie on board without any alert of hearing?! and why did the people at the wall are singing and why didn’t soldiers stopped them from singing if they know if loud noise FUCKING ATTRACTS THEM (ugh) (I’m sorry but these stupid and dumb decisions makes me pissed off)

Especially that the chemistry between Gerry and soldier didint go anywhere especially that both of them didint get any chemistry

And also I feel like the movie has a very false advertising including potential considering that we have been expecting a full on world war against the zombies since the people finally fought them when the cure is unleashed but the entire war only lasted for like 2 FUCKING minutes especially at the end of the movie which is kinda disappointing becuase I was expecting the movie’s potential but instead we didn’t get any of it and it’s kinda shame and disappointing

Overall, while the movie does truly shine on its first act and opening and it does have alot of entertaining moments that at least didint bored me and brat Pitt’s Gerry character is likable, the movie suffers from having alot of pointless and convoluted plotpoints,a lot of stupid moments and some uninteresting and boring characters with some of them given nothing interesting about them and most of them are just there just to be plot devices or to be killed off or disappeared without a trace

It’s a forgettable zombie movie that has a lot of miss potential and false advertising especially some stupid and convoluted plotpoints that completely destroyed the movie and my experience with it and it truly shows because of its trouble production, though at least it has some moments that at least entertain me like the zombie wall sequence or the Philadelphia orgy massacre especially the infamous flight massacre, despite the movie flaws, it’s at least not boring but it’s still a disappointing movie for sure

(Just don’t ask me why I’m obsessed with the xenomorph ship because I just do find it hilarious especially that I had already envisioned the Alien creatures from the face hugger attack and the xenomorph attack as a smooch lovers)

Here are my genuine favorite slasher villains

Micheal myers: I know everyone loves Jason,Freddy or even chucky but I do think that Micheal myers is easily a creepy slasher in my book definitely because of how he looks and embodies especially during his screen time especially when he’s at haddonfield, he’s insanely terrifying in whatever shoot he’s in especially that he also represents the embodiment of a force of nature who basically is a walking natural disaster who kills anyone that gets in his way, neither good or evil person are spared from him

Xenomorph: definitely one of the creepiest slasher villains in horror history definitely because of how he can easily blend within his surroundings and killing people behind the shadows without anyone noticing which it makes him quite terrifying along with the fact that he can unleash acid from his entire body especially that his design feels nightmarish and I do like how in the original film, the film kept on constantly hiding it by only showing his closeup shoots which for me, it’s one of the few reasons why I do love the original alien some much compare to its sequels because of its atmospheric feel and tension

T 800: Definitely a badass killer in my book and it’s may be shocking that I do consider the terminator a slasher villain because a lot of people believed that the terminator isn’t a slasher movie or a horror movie in general, which is kinda baffling considering that the movie does feature alot moments of brutal violence and alot of sexual moments which it definitely gives a representation that the teminator is slasher villain and heck even James Cameron took notes from the original Halloween to make this movie

Anyway the main reason why I do love the t 800 so my in and considered my favorite horror movie killer is due to the fact of how unstoppable and badass he really is especially that he feels like Micheal myers but with weapons especially that his moments are definitely pretty terrifying and gruosome especially with the infamous moment when he takes his eye off or when he kept on constantly killing people that aren’t related to his mission, which it truly gives him like he’s force of nature compare to Micheal myers or any other killer and heck even Kyle Reese said the best about him that he’s an unstoppable killer who can’t be bothered or reasoned with, he would stop ever until your dead and Arnold really shined for me when He portrayed his villainous role in this movie which it makes him quite memorable

I know pretty much everyone love his heroic personality and I do admit that his heroic personality worked in the sequel but I do find his villainous role in the original to be a lot memorable and underrated compare to the overrated heroic personality, it worked in terminator 2 but as soon as the later sequels kept on reusing the same personality, it gets old fast for me

For those who have or haven’t seen primitive war

(for those who didint I highly recommend that you should watch it yourself because it’s definitely a underrated dinosaur movie and also to prevent spoilers)

There is no deny that this sequence of the utahraptors standing on the entrance of the soviet base with the fire in the background is easily badass and terrifying and it’s easily one of my favorite moments in the film especially that even if the Special effects of the movie in general are a mix bag at times, thought at times it shines during the night time but this sequence seriously makes the effects look peak cinema and it definitely shows

And this sequence feels like a symbolism of vicious beasts coming out from hell like something in the Bible when it described the apocalypse as the vicious beasts come out of hell and terrorize the living up until the angels and Jesus came and rescued the living like the soldiers who arrived in the helicopters in the film are represented as the angels and the dinosaurs themselves are represented as the beasts who terrorized the living

And I soon realized that the soviets in the movie represented the arrogance and how they think they can play god and control nature just like John Hammond believe he can control nature in Jurassic park and the soviets used the dinosaurs as secret weapons to attack the US only when their creations backfired on them and the Dinosaurs began to terrorize them and cause havoc, which embodies that the consequences of their ambitions came back at them
