ആശസമരത്തെ അനുകൂലിച്ചതിൻ്റെ പേരിൽ ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമി ചെയർമാൻ സ്ഥാനത്ത് നിന്ന് തന്നെ നീക്കിയത് അനീതിയെന്ന് നടനും സിപിഎം സഹയാത്രികനുമായ പ്രേംകുമാർ. സാമാന്യമര്യാദ തന്നോട് ഉണ്ടായില്ലെന്നും മാന്യമായ യാത്രയയപ്പോ പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകാൻ അനുവദിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തില്ലെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം മാധ്യമങ്ങളോട് പറഞ്ഞു.

കവി സച്ചിദാനന്ദനുമായി താരതമ്യം ചെയ്യാൻ താൻ ആളല്ലെന്നും എന്നാൽ ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമിയും സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമിയും കേരളത്തിലെ രണ്ട് സുപ്രധാന സാംസ്‌കാരിക സ്‌ഥാപനങ്ങളെന്ന് കണക്കാക്കുമ്പോൾ രണ്ടിന്റെയും ചെയർമാൻ സ്ഥഥാനത്തിരിക്കുന്നവരോട് രണ്ട് തരത്തിലുള്ള പെരുമാറ്റം ഉണ്ടായെന്ന് പറയേണ്ടി വരുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
