They are some of my favorites. When I was a little girl, I can remember smelling them and getting the yellow on my nose. My kids loved to pick them and come running inside with a bouquet for me. For weeks in the spring, you can find them in mason jars and vases all over my house.
I know their real name, but what do you call them? To me, they will always be buttercups. What about you?
We are getting closer to Valentine’s Day. Have you got your treats yet? I need to run to the store today to get mine. We don’t do big things, but you have to have something! I remembered when I made these cookies years ago, and I wanted to share. We got a good laugh out of them. I couldn’t find my heart-shaped cookie cutter, so I improvised. I used an index card to make my own. They turned out pretty well, if you ask me. 🤷🏻♀️❤️
Let’s play a game. Do you like the Valentine boxes of candy? If so, what is your favorite flavor? Mine would be either the caramel or the coconut ones. When Chris and Amy were little, we would get them a box of the mixed chocolates for Valentine s Day. It never failed, you could see the ones they didn’t like that had finger marks indented in them. They would mash the candies to see what was inside, and leave the ones they didn’t want in the box. 😂
Leave me a comment and tell me which candy in the box is your favorite. And try not to mash the other ones.
I had to run in the Dollar Tree this morning, and I want you to see some of the new things that I found. The first 2 pictures are sweet little Easter egg trees. One is already in a little tin bucket, and the other is in a burlap covered pot. Either could easily be stuck in a crock or pot or something that you already have. I love to have egg trees all over the house in the springtime. The next 2 pictures are both hair items. This scent is a dupe for the Sol de Janeiro 62 scent that is so popular. My granddaughters love it! I snagged some of the body/hair mist and I am going to use it like a perfume/body spray. The tiny beaded frame was so sweet! I have several pieces with that bead accent throughout my house. The last time is an air freshener that is a perfect dupe for the Capri Blue Volcano scent. I grabbed several of these to sit in my bathrooms at home, and to use at the camper.
Amy and I LOVE to shop the Dollar Tree and share our finds with you. They have so many affordable things. Which is your favorite? Have you found anything that we need to know about recently? The only thing better than finding a deal is sharing it with your friends. 💵🤑
So I hear that Monday was National Pizza Day. I love pizza. Let’s play a game. Leave me a comment and let me know what kind of pizza is your favorite. I’ll go first. My favorite pizza is Hawaiian, with ham, pineapple, and onions. I like regular or thin crust. What about you? 🍕🍍
Last Saturday the high was 24*. Today, it is going to be 71*! I am so excited! I had a pep in my step this morning just knowing that it’s warming up. Spring is coming, friends. The days are getting longer, and spring is coming. Thank you, Lord!
Remember last week when I showed the video of Shawn’s raised beds? Well yesterday afternoon, I was walking through his garden just looking, and I saw this. Nothing says “Mason was here” like finding a Little Person toy in the garden. He loves all things “struction” (construction) so I guess he was playing in one of the beds while Shawn worked. It made me smile, so I took a picture to show Harold.
God spoke to me with this little toy, and I wanted to share it with you. In the second picture, you can see that it’s small, and in a big bed. It would’ve been easy to miss - unless you took the time to notice. When I did, I smiled because I saw something that was precious to Mason, therefore it was precious to me. I feel like God was telling me to slow down and look around. There are precious things to see if we only take the time to look for them.
Have a great day friends. Slow down and look for the precious things. I know you all are precious to me.
I know that we just had a birthday a few days ago, but we had another one on the 8th. It’s Shawn’s birthday! He is my gardening partner, and he can build or fix anything. He’s been in our family for years, and I can’t imagine our lives without him. I am glad that God gave him to Amy and the rest of us.
Join me and leave Shawn a comment wishing him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood—and Mr. Rogers was truly on to something about the power of positivity. My kids grew up watching him, and the movie about his life was so good. I’m sure you’re like me: when you hear positive, uplifting things, you feel better. Just like one rotten potato can stink up the whole bag, negativity can spread quickly—but so can kindness and encouragement. Let’s make it a point to do what Philippians 4:8 tells us: focus on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. I hope you know how much you all mean to me. Be blessed.
Help me wish Griffin a happy birthday! He was 22 on February 7th. He is a true miracle. The doctors said Shawn and Amy wouldn’t have him without medical intervention. They did infertility treatments for 4 years, but nothing worked. They took a break, and boom - along came Griffin.
The first picture is him as a baby wearing one of Chris’s outfits from his childhood. I didn’t save much, but I did save this, and I am so glad.
Griff is in engineering school and should graduate in a year. He loves the Lord, and that makes me the most proud. He looks so much like Harold did at that age, but he has Shawn’s dimples. His Gigi sure does love him.
Leave him a comment and join me in wishing him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
If you would say a prayer for our John Sutton, I sure would appreciate it. He has RSV. He’s just over 2 weeks old, so that’s pretty scary for a little baby. His sweet Mama, Kylie, is worried sick, so say a prayer for her too. I appreciate you all so much.
Amy sent us this pic last night. Harold and I had just left from going over to check on him. I know God has him in the palm of His hand. You never want to see them sick, but when they are so small, it’s extra hard.
