🚨 SELFIE MOMENT — BUT MESSAGE IS SERIOUS 🚨
A selfie in the hemicycle — but behind the smile, a strong political signal.
Ursula von der Leyen is pushing for more FLEXibility in Europe:
Cut unnecessary national laws.
Reduce red tape.
Boost competitiveness.
Less bureaucracy.
More delivery.
The image is relaxed.
The reform agenda is not.
- Is Europe finally ready to simplify?

🚨 “MADE IN EUROPE”? NECESSARY ... BUT DANGEROUS? 🚨
On the eve of the Alden Biesen summit, Ursula von der Leyen backed a “European preference” in strategic sectors — but warned it is a “fine line to walk.”
- Should EU public money favour “Made in Europe”?
Emmanuel Macron says Europe must protect its industry.
Nordic and Baltic leaders fear protectionism and lost competitiveness.
Germany proposes “Made with Europe” — including trusted partners.
Defence. Clean tech. Steel. Automotive.
Open markets — or strategic shield?
No formal decisions. No conclusions.
But the direction of Europe’s economy may be shifting.
Is this resilience — or retreat?

In Brussels, EU defence ministers gathered for the Foreign Affairs Council (Defence), chaired by Kaja Kallas.
Top priority: strengthening EU military support to Ukraine.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov joined in person for talks focused on defence innovation, battlefield technology and deeper cooperation.
More coordination.
More capability.
More urgency.
Europe’s security debate is no longer theoretical — it is operational.

More than 100 industry leaders are demanding urgent and bold action from EU governments to slash energy prices — warning that Europe is losing industrial capacity at record speed.
At the Antwerp Industry Summit, Ursula von der Leyen acknowledged “high and volatile” electricity prices are hitting steel, chemicals, cement and aluminium sectors hard.
Industry’s red line?
⚡ Power prices closer to €50/MWh
🏠Restore competitiveness
đź’¶ Reinvest more ETS revenues back into industry
The message before the Alden Biesen summit:
Move from plans to results — or risk deindustrialisation.
Is Europe pricing itself out of the global race?

NATO has launched “Arctic Sentry”, a new mission to strengthen its presence in the High North — as tensions flare over Donald Trump’s push to acquire Greenland.
At a press conference in Brussels, Mark Rutte confirmed the mission will coordinate growing allied military activity in the Arctic under a single command, amid increasing Russian and Chinese interest in the region.
Germany is deploying Eurofighters. The UK and Nordic allies are stepping up. Denmark is coordinating closely with Greenland.
Official goal: maintain stability.
Strategic reality: the Arctic is becoming the next geopolitical frontline.
Melting ice. New sea lanes. Rising military footprints.
Is this deterrence — or the start of a new Cold North?

🚨 TABOO BROKEN? A “SUPER-SPEED” EUROPE EMERGES 🚨
A letter from Ursula von der Leyen to the 27 EU leaders is shaking Brussels.
If unanimity blocks progress, should a smaller group move ahead alone?
“Enhanced cooperation” could allow at least 9 countries to integrate faster — without waiting for the rest.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Macron pushes for new eurobonds for strategic projects.
Less veto. More speed. Higher stakes.
Is this the long-awaited reform of the Union?
Or the beginning of a permanent two-speed Europe?
If Europe cannot accelerate together, it may accelerate in clusters...
The question is no longer whether the EU will change — but who will be in the fast lane.
The engine is running. Who gets left behind?

🇪🇺 Europe’s Sleeping Giant Is Waking Up!
Speaking at the European Parliament, EU Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius sent a clear message: in an increasingly volatile world, Europe can no longer depend on others for its security.
From a stronger European defence industry to real strategic autonomy, the tone has shifted.
For years, Europe was the sleeping giant.
Now the question is simple: will Europe finally wake up — or hit the snooze button again?

âť“ Should Ursula von der Leyen call Vladimir Putin? âť“
#VonderLeyen #Call #Putin
The debate is heating up in Europe. As the war in Ukraine drags on, EU leaders are split over whether diplomacy with the Kremlin should be back on the table.
🇫🇷 Emmanuel Macron and 🇮🇹 Giorgia Meloni have both openly argued that Europe must not stay on the sidelines. As Ukraine’s largest supporter, the European Union should have a permanent seat at the negotiating table — shaping Europe’s security future rather than depending solely on Washington.
❓ Call or no call? Should Europe talk — or hold the line? ❓

At the centre of this dilemma stands Ursula von der Leyen.
Would direct contact with Vladimir Putin be a step toward peace — or a dangerous signal while aggression continues?
But would a direct line to Vladimir Putin strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy — or cross a red line while the war continues?
Dialogue for influence, or no talks without justice?
❓ Call or no call? Should Europe talk — or hold the line? ❓

🇧🇪 “What the hell is this mess?” — Belgium’s PM warns over Brussels deadlock
Belgium’s Prime Minister Bart De Wever has openly criticised the Brussels-Capital Region political stalemate, as the region marks 600 days without a government — a crisis now damaging Belgium’s image and finances.
Speaking to RTBF, De Wever said the situation has become an international embarrassment:
“Wherever I go in Europe, everyone asks me: What the hell is this mess?”
- Brussels has been in caretaker mode since June 2024, unable to form a coalition
- Any regional government must secure a majority in both Dutch- and French-speaking groups, a rule blocking agreement
- Public debt is rising, investments are frozen, and subsidies to NGOs and cultural bodies have been halted
- State-owned Belfius bank has already withdrawn a €500 million credit line, citing governance risks
⚠️ De Wever warned that outdated institutional rules prevent federal intervention, despite the financial risks:
“If money is thrown out the window, I’ll have to explain it to Europe.”
🤝 A possible breakthrough?
Seven parties have now been invited to restart talks, raising cautious hopes that Brussels may finally escape the political limbo — after equalling Belgium’s own record for government deadlock.
Brussels may be Europe’s political capital — but right now, it’s stuck in paralysis.
