"Formed with Purpose: Trusting the Potter’s Design"

Hi friends, welcome to my channel! I’m so excited to share what I am learning with you today. My heart behind this is to create a space where we can grow together in God’s Word and discover the unique purpose He’s given each of us.

Romans 9:12 tells us, “The older will serve the younger. Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” Later in Romans 9:21, Paul writes, “Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?”

This passage reminds us that God has already determined the purpose of each “lump of clay.” Some are formed for special use, while others are for common use. However, it is up to us to seek Him and ask which purpose we were created for.

Just as pottery cannot know its use unless the potter reveals it, we too cannot understand our true purpose apart from our Creator. Without God’s guidance, we are left in the dark about why we exist.

In the same way that each part of the body has its own function, every believer has a unique role in the house of the Lord. Our struggle often comes from trying to be like someone else, or from following what we think we should be, instead of what God designed us to be.

For example, our nose and eyes are close together on our face, yet they serve completely different functions. The nose was created to smell—whether something foul or something pleasant—while the eyes were created to see—whether something delightful or something difficult to behold. If the eyes decided to function like the nose, they would fail, because they were never designed for that role.

In the same way, every believer is created for a unique purpose. We cannot discover that purpose by imitating others, but only by turning to the One who made us. God alone can reveal why we were created and how we are meant to live out that purpose.

So here’s the challenge: Stop measuring yourself against the gifts and callings of others. Stop trying to fit into a mold God never designed for you. Instead, take time this week to ask your Creator, “Lord, what did You form me for? What purpose did You have in mind when You shaped me?” When you surrender to His design, you’ll discover that your true significance isn’t found in comparison—but in obedience.

Prayer:
Father, You are the Potter and I am the clay. Forgive me for the times I’ve tried to be something You never made me to be. Help me to rest in the purpose You created me for. Show me where You want me to serve, and give me the courage to walk in obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
