2025年11月26日，大埔宏福苑火災造成至少159人死亡（包括一名消防員）及79人受傷，31人仍下落不明。此事件為香港75年來最嚴重火災，起因涉及翻新工程中的嚴重安全失責：火警系統失效、易燃保麗龍封窗及不合規格安全網助長火勢蔓延，勞工處及屋宇署雖巡查16次卻忽略投訴，廉政公署調查12人涉貪腐與「圍標」疑雲。官方調查雖已啟動，但公眾質疑透明度與公正性，包括：
監管失責：2024年9月居民投訴圍網不阻燃被駁回，導致火勢30秒竄升30層。
消防失效：警報早在5月被關閉，走廊煙霧阻礙逃生，類似英國Grenfell Tower模式。
利益輸送：3.3億工程疑偽造檢測報告，棚網樣本多不合格，議員推廣後神隱引瀆職指控。
壓制異議：聯署發起人關靖豐提四大訴求後被國安捕「煽動」，媒體報導受威脅，北京國安公署指「以災亂港」。
透明不足：拒公開名單與失蹤細節，公眾呼聲要求法官主導獨立委員會，參考1996年嘉利大廈模式。

On November 26, 2025, the Wang Fuk Court fire in Tai Po claimed at least 159 lives (including one firefighter) and injured 79, with 31 still missing. This is Hong Kong's deadliest fire in 75 years, stemming from grave safety lapses in renovation works: malfunctioning fire alarms, flammable styrofoam blocking windows, and substandard safety netting accelerating the blaze. Despite 16 inspections by Labour and Buildings Departments, complaints were ignored; ICAC probes 12 for corruption and bid-rigging. While an official probe is underway, public doubts its transparency and impartiality, including:
Regulatory failures: Residents' September 2024 complaints on non-flame-retardant netting dismissed, allowing flames to surge 30 floors in 30 seconds.
Fire system failures: Alarms disabled since May, hallway smoke blocking escapes, akin to UK's Grenfell Tower.
Conflicts of interest: HK$330M project suspected of forged test reports, multiple netting samples failing standards, district councillor's promotion followed by disappearance raising malfeasance claims.
Suppression of dissent: Petition initiator Miles Kwan arrested by NSL for "incitement" after four demands; media threatened, Beijing's Hong Kong NSO labels it "disaster exploitation."
Lack of transparency: Refusal to release full names and missing persons details; calls for judge-led independent commission, referencing 1996 Garley Building model.
