What is BPC-157?
• BPC-157 (Body Protective Compound 157) is a synthetic peptide (a small protein) based
on a compound found naturally in stomach acid.
• It has not yet been approved by the FDA for medical use in the United States.
• Most available forms are sold as unregulated supplements.
What is BPC-157 used for?
Some early research (mainly animal studies) suggests BPC-157 may:
• Support tendon, ligament, and muscle healing
• Reduce inflammation
• Protect the stomach lining and intestines
• Possibly aid recovery from injury
⚠️ Evidence in humans is limited. No large, well-controlled clinical trials.
How is it taken?
• Oral capsules (swallowed)
• Injections (under the skin or into muscle or near an injury
site)
Not FDA-approved = no standard dosing, safety, or quality
regulation.

Possible Benefits (not proven in humans):
• Faster recovery from musculoskeletal injuries
• Reduced joint or tendon pain
• Improved gut health
Risks and Safety Concerns:
• Long-term safety in humans is unknown
• Possible side effects: injection site pain, headache, dizziness, fatigue,
nausea, anaphylaxis
• Quality varies: some products may be contaminated or mislabeled
• No established safe dosage
• May interact with other medications or conditions
• Can potentially activate dormant cancer cells the body would have otherwise cleared
Important Things to Know:
• BPC-157 is considered experimental.
• It has not been evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or
purity.
Bottom Line
• BPC-157 is a peptide with promising early findings
• Human studies are lacking.
• If you are considering it, weigh potential benefits and
risks.
• At Motion is Medicine we have not yet found a
reputable manufacturing company to safely provide this
to our patients.
