I spoke with a friend who works in the Department of Adult services. That card that was left on Nancy’s door, was more than likely left that Sunday. It is pretty much a standard procedure according to her. Here is why….

Because the missing person is 84 years old and blood was found at the scene, the situation is treated as a high-risk endangered adult case.

• Police investigate the crime (what happened and who took her)
• Adult Protective Services (APS) checks safety factors about the victim (health, vulnerability, living situation)

APS leaving a card does NOT mean family members are suspected.
It simply means the law requires extra protection steps when an elderly person may be hurt or unable to protect themselves.

They leave a card so family or caregivers can call them back quickly and provide medical and background information that could help find her safely.

Now you have to remember this would have been placed at the VERY beginning of the case. When not a whole lot was known at the time.

I hope this helps answer some questions anyone has about the card that was left behind.
