I'm in a rather unpleasant situation right now. Last time, about a month and a half ago, I had a housing issue due to a fight with my parents, and I had to ask for help. But my mother found those posts, and although I was expecting an unpleasant conversation afterward, after she saw those posts, her attitude towards me changed for the better, and she became much more reserved, and there were fewer fights

But now I came here with a slightly different problem. I'll have to tell you everything from start to finish, so you understand. I also feel very uncomfortable saying all this because I'm not used to asking for help, and after I did, I always felt weak and exhausted. But now I understand that I'll either ask for help or just collapse and break

Let me start by saying that two weeks ago, my stepfather was mobilized for military service. Not only was he mobilized improperly, and they tried to hide facts about his health and his full medical examination from us, but they also held him back, and we had no way to contact him for a very long time

In Ukraine, there's an app called "Reserve+," designed for men liable for military service, and it contains all the documents they need. One day, early in the morning, our family was having breakfast, and our local police officer called my stepfather and said, "Hey, you're showing up on my tablet as if you're wanted by the military registration and enlistment office." My stepfather was a little shocked, as he never hid, and if the military registration and enlistment office needed something, he went, got his medical examination, and submitted the necessary documents. After breakfast, he went to the military registration and enlistment office to figure out what it was. There, after looking at all his documents, they let him go, saying they had no idea where the local police officer got the idea that he had a warrant from the military registration and enlistment office, because the military registration and enlistment office itself had no warrant. He then went to the local police officer, who sent him his man—the local police officer from a neighboring village—with the words, "I'm giving you my man, go figure this out," and they drove back to the military registration and enlistment office in our car. There, seeing that he had arrived with a police officer, they subdued him under the pretext that he had been brought in by a police officer, and then they filed a report for "draft evader," even though that had never happened! If the military registration and enlistment office needed it, my stepfather would go and do it

The next day, the military registration and enlistment office conducted a medical examination, which consisted only of a blood test and a chest x-ray! And, in my opinion, this wasn't a full medical examination. Plus, my stepfather insisted on having his eyesight checked. It turned out he had -5.75 and astigmatism. They didn't even check anything else, and the medical examination they forced my stepfather to undergo with a military registration and enlistment office employee only took about 20 minutes. Just so you understand, my stepfather, in addition to poor eyesight, also has flat feet and back problems. He can't walk for long, and after two hours of walking, he felt terrible and heavy. Plus, he has almost no natural teeth and uses dentures. HOWEVER, the military registration and enlistment office didn't care, and they mobilized him and sent him to military training that night

Before he was sent to military training, the head of the military registration and enlistment office where my stepfather was being held told my mother that my stepfather would have to continue his medical examination the next day because he hadn't made it on time. But in the end, it was a lie, because he was taken somewhere that night

On what was supposed to be the second day of his medical examination, they first tried to hide the fact that he had been taken somewhere, and then the location, saying, "We don't know." But how could the military enlistment office leadership not know where the people they hold are taken?

My stepfather was only able to call my mother on the third day after he disappeared from the military enlistment office, and he only managed to talk to her for five minutes. We could hear him speaking in front of others, so he couldn't tell the whole truth and had to say everything was fine there. But after a week of silence, he called again and told us everything was terrible there. Firstly, they all had their phones confiscated. Secondly, they have to stand outside for 8-9 hours at temperatures of -18, -20 degrees Celsius (-4, 0 F), plus there are night shifts to guard the military training unit. This situation is made worse by the fact that no one at the military training unit was given thermal underwear, so everyone is freezing. It also turns out that all the students there are sick, and the unit's sanitary and epidemiological situation doesn't matter. Also, a guy died of a fever there because he wasn't treated and was forced to walk in the cold. And now they have another guy with a temperature of about +40 degrees Celsius (104F), whom other military students are trying to save

My mother also found out where exactly my stepfather was taken, and it turns out that after this training, people who end up there are often sent to hot spots, and my mother and grandmother are now trying to find a way to get him out of there, because first and foremost, it's his life, and it needs to be saved

And my mother and grandmother found a solution.
He can be transferred to a military unit in my city, to a support unit, and this can be achieved through a lawyer, but the cost is $5,000. For Ukraine, that's an exorbitant sum, as the average salary there is only $500, or $750 at best, and some people earn even less. We've already found a way to get some of the money, but we only have two weeks to raise the entire amount. And I'd like to ask you for your help. I'm not asking for the entire amount, but even if I can raise even a portion, I'll be incredibly grateful. A person's life comes first, and I don't want him sent to hot spots during the war. I'll also reopen the emergency commissions if you decide to help me in this way
