The #sword of Fatih Sultan Mehmed is a symbol of his power and bravery. It's said that he used it in the famous siege of #Constantinople in 1453.
His sword has been the subject of many stories. One of the most famous ones is that he had a dream about the sword before he found it. In his dream, he saw a sword stuck in a rock. He knew the sword was destined for him, so he went looking for it. After several months of searching, he finally found the sword and used it in numerous battles.
His sword is now kept in the Topkapi Palace Museum.

Prince Sabahaddin was the son of #Sultan Abdul Hamid II's sister, Seniha Sultan. Prince Sabahaddin believed in separating Islam from politics and adopting a more modern and Western-style system of government. He played a key role in organizing the Young Turk Revolution of 1908, which forced Sultan Abdul Hamid II to restore the Ottoman constitution and establish a constitutional government. The Young Turks eventually succeeded in overthrowing Sultan Abdul Hamid II in 1908, and Prince Sabahaddin played an important role in this movement. After the end of the #Ottoman Empire, Prince Sabahaddin was exiled from #Turkiye and spent much of his life in Europe.

29 May 1453, 571 years ago, Fatih #Sultan Mehmed II defeated the #ByzantineEmpire after the 53-day siege which had begun on 6 April, and entered the city through this gate (The Gate of Charisius).
The fall of #Constantinople was the end of the #RomanEmpire, which began in roughly 27 BC and lasted nearly 1500 years.
According to historians, it marked the end of the Medieval period and the beginning of the early modern era, making #Ottomans as the New Superpower of the World.
